Najee didn't want out he talked about it afterwards he was disappointed they didn't pick up his 5th year option.

I wanted it / him. Would have loved that 1/2 punch for several years to come.

understand why they did not do it, to some extend. again, as has been written - takes 2 to tango, maybe Harris was sick of Pittsburgh? Maybe he still signs here, although highly unlikely.

That's the thing. It didn't take two to tango in that case. If they exercised the option, Harris had no choice.

i understand. I agree, the FO went in another direction. the option was a good deal.

Seems a mistake at this point.

No. It was probably a consensus between all parties.

They have to look at extending Watt and actually pay a QB.

jeh1856 might be right. He might not get a big play on the open market. We shall see.

But right now let him run the wheels off.

The team wants to play bully ball but doesn't want to pay Najee what he's worth, his 5th year option would've made him a top 12 paid RB in the league.

For some reason they did not want to give him two years of guaranteed salary

Read into that what you want but I suspect Najee was certainly a part of the equation

I was very hard on Harris after the colts game,it was just brutal but he has been so good in the last 3 games!...My problem with him was his lack of big run but this is not a problem in the last few week!

And he has always been at his best in november and december,so this is a good sign if this is the case again for him

For his option, good GM need to admit his errors, nobody is perfect so we will see if Khan will admit his errors if Harris continue to play like that.....Franchise Tag for him and contract extension after that is possible

This was my biggest criticism of Harris in the past but it's not a problem in the last few weeks!

All He needed was a offense to take some of the D out of the box. Been saying this, but what do I know

And now my post of not understanding Khan’s decision to not option Harris for cheap and it’s going to cost us more. That’s at least one move I still don’t get?
As previously posted/ranted, even if Najee failed Epically in the present, you still wouldn’t lose cause you’re going to release after anyways. He’s the face of the Steelers no matter what the YPC. He’s old school, always prepared, and would rather come at you than around you.

He’s what many of us call a Steeler, as we remember it. The option just would’ve saved us a few bucks, that’s all. It’s not like them to not go for the small short term discount. Head scratcher on that one. I mean it’s not a big deal but just odd not saving a few bucks and getting ahead of a contract player. They’re now in the reactive seat.

Steelers have 2 good running backs, let's use both of them going forward.
Najee answers the bell week in week out. Both run hard , pass block and receive well.
And don't forget ball security! If we can get our OL playing consistently, our running game could
get us where we want to go.

#30 is not better this year, but perhaps he could be in the future. I know he is indeed a better pass protector and blocker for Wilson than Najee

yes - many of us thought this too. Canada and Pickett sucked. and it hurt Najee's career. the lack of OLINE development did as well.

BOTH he and Warren have to be STELLAR if we are to win a playoff game or 2 or #7!!!!!

    He got injured

Harris is clearly benefiting from Warren and Pattersons absence. That and teams respecting Wilson.

You’ll probably see Warren worked back in more especially with the teams coming up that are good against the run.

No, Warren is not a better pass blocker. He has gotten better at avoiding the bad decisions of who to block that were an issue in the past, but Harris has always been better at that.

it's 'not going to cost us more"

it's not going to cost us a DIME because the decision was made to not pay him after this season.

they will pay Warren an extension and then draft. these guys don't play at a high level for many season. there are few exceptions. you have to draft and find new players, especially good RB's, every few years. they will sign a 3rd or 4th RB via FA, cheap.

but yes - as has been stated ad nauseam, the decision not to do the 5th yr option looks worse and worse, every week.

Harris was the better player before Warren got injured.
