    14. Calvin Austin needs to go. He is not doing anything for this team. They don't know how to use him and on returns he seems to be trying to be cute and it never works out for him. He is one return away from being smoked badly.

Here's my tally of passes that don't show up in the box score:

    Pickens (DPI) - 37 yards
    Pickens (holding-Jones) - 51 yards
Van Jefferson (DPI) - 27 yards
Austin (Un. Roughness) - 21 yards

    Total - 136 yards

Caleb Williams is learning this the hard way. $10 says though that Ben Johnson is the new HC in the Windy City in 2025. However... will Caleb survive his Rookie Campagin?!

    Stay tuned folks.

Would love to see Ben Johnson as HC for Steelers in 2025.... when Popcorn retires.

On this, we agree. My gut is telling me that Wilson gets the ball when healthy and that it has been Tomlin's plan all along. I just don't see where Fields has done enough to make sense of leaving a healthy Wilson on the sidelines. It isn't hockey where the tendency is to ride the hot goalie.

I agree. Fields has done what he's been asked to do, which is not turn the ball over.

That said, neither the Falcons nor the Broncos had good offenses, so the Steelers could put a lot on the defense to win the game. I wonder if we'll see them push a bit more on offense against the Chargers.

We use to hear the same stuff about Cowher. Never going for the knock out punch. I too thought they were just going to make sure field position is not great for the Broncos and they won't have a chance to get in the end zone. A fluke INT. and the game would have been tied. Worked with Denver may not work so well with Chargers.

Hey, if Denver had tied us I had no doubt Boz would have hit a 70 yarder;)

Mike Tomlin just recently received a three year extension. I seriously doubt the Rooney's are firing him. The only way out of this is if Tomlin walks away on his own terms.

Until then?! More of the same I'm afraid.

Cowher did that for his entire career but with great success with this strategy!

true - but the game was built to sustain that then.

today, teams can march up and down the field much easier.

won't work today, against the better teams

and it really did not work w Cowher, he lost in the biggest game too often - playoff and AFCCG's....got him wins in the lowly AFCN for years and rack up reg season wins, but losses deep in the playoffs. and razor thin wins, when we won.

No, it really isn't better that what we saw last season. They actually had more offensive touchdowns in the first two games last season, two-to-one. Both were touchdown passes by Pickett. This is despite the first two games being against much tougher opposition last season.

No, but I understand that Fields has his flashy moments. He has ugly ones, too. The team is going to have to lean more heavily on the offense at some point this season. Those are the moments when things have always gone sideways for Fields.

Of course, there were no offensive penalties or mistakes such as consistently lousy shotgun snaps from center that hampered the quarterbacks last year.

He returned from that injury and played in two preseason games before hurting himself again. Also, why does it matter that it was a non-contact drill? Many injuries happen without contact, often the worst ones. Nobody made contact with Rod Woodson when he blew out his knee in 1995, for example.

I've been writing about that for a while. Khan screwed that up and now the team doesn't have a viable second option.

Until he drafted a QB in 2004. Roethlisberger in 2005 playoffs vs Bengals, Colts and Broncos.... damn good and aggressive. No turtle ball there.

I don't care what he did in Chicago.I'll give him a chance and we'll see how he does when the offense needs to score more points and hopefully we'll have less drive killers by then, otherwise no QB can have a chance with so many penalties

So bottom line… you are saying we were better off with Kenny Pickett over Justin Fields? That is you assessment?
