Well yes, hence the question mark. Even know giving up on a first rd pick back when Huey was playing does not compare to today and with a QB no less.

So yes, Pickett is definitely one of the worst 1st rd picks ever and yes, worse than Edmunds. Do you really believe that if the Steelers felt Pickett could be a franchise QB, that if it was even remotely a possibility that they would get rid of him so fast? Not even with their volunteers not hostages mantra do I believe they would do that with a QB and one they felt was the answer no less. Defies logic. Pickett gave them an excuse to kick him to the curb and undo a mistake, made it easy for them.

I think someone else nailed it when they called him and his generation of college players, portal babies.

Ever? JaMarcus Russell was a worse pick than Pickett. And more recently, Bryce Young might be a worse pick than Pickett, too. Look no further than the Browns.... Tim Couch and Johnny Manziel were both worse picks than Pickett. Pickett could turn out to be a good QB with a real OC.

Do I think they saw him as a potential franchise quarterback and let him go? No. Do I think they saw him as a potentially being a decent starter and chose to move on to the higher physical upside of Fields as Wilson's backup? Yes, I do.

Being a decent starter would make him a better player than Edmuds, Jarvis Jones, Bush, Stephens, and Burns, just to start a list of failed first-round picks.

Exactly. All were worse players than Pickett. They knew they couldn't sign Wilson, trade for Fields, and keep Pickett. Knowing they could get Fields for peanuts was part of the equation, too.

they made the decision to MOVE ON FROM Pickett, before they made those QB decisions.

they felt he was no longer a fit in the organization, damaged goods - if you will. In the head and just no good, in my opinion. 2 years, they had seen what I saw.....ENOUGH!

That is all that is, your opinion, and it is not one supported by the available evidence. If you believe that they moved Pickett because he asked for a trade, and most people here do seem to believe that, the more likely story is that Tomlin got the veteran quarterback he wanted when they were able to get Wilson cheap. The idea was to have Pickett as his backup and a potential option for 2025. They were never going to just hand the job to Pickett again, but as they explored options they saw that both Wilson and Fields could be had cheaply. When Pickett asked for a deal, they knew they could get a comparable backup cheap, so they granted his wish.

I don't think Bush has any strong feelings towards football, other than cashing a check

Not defending Pickett pick, because everyone knows I wanted a DB, but at least Pickett has a job....T. Edmunds can't even keep a job a whole year with a team since We let Him go

Funny thing is he wasn't my first pick there, either. I wanted them to take Linderbaum or one of the corners.

I do think the hyperbolic negativity since he was traded has been a ridiculous departure from what the facts tell us.

Edmunds had a job in the first years of the year and he was a starter in 5 of those years.Pickett is right now a backup in his 3rd year and this is not sure he will become a full time starter another time in his career

Again. T. Edmunds has not held a job full time by anyone team since we have let Him go. These are the facts. He has played with 3 other teams, and no team will keep him.

True but he was still 5 years as starter with us vs only 2 for Kenny....And this is not like Kenny has at lot of action with the eagles this year.....Burns,Bush,Jones and Kenny was way worse bust that Edmunds

I would say Jones is, but not the others. Either way He's a bust....If You are drafted in the 1st round, and after the team that drafted you let's you go, and You can't keep a job with any team.....You are a bust

He is a bust but not bigger that Burns who was unplayable in the 3rd year and after that, same for Bush.Edmunds was not unplayable in the first 5 years

He might not by the time he reaches his fifth year. He’s definitely the worse pick of the two IMO. Went higher in the round at pick 20, drafted to be the franchise guy. Edmunds was pick 28 I believe, practically into the second rd by then.

    What part is hyperbolic?

    That hes a bad QB?
    Fact

That he was a 1st rd bust?
    Fact

That he only lasted two seasons?
    Fact

That he chose to leave and start fresh instead of fight for his job?
    Fact
