If you watched the Bills Chiefs game yesterday you would realize we are a lot more than a WR2 from being an actual contender.

Can someone tell me why Steeler players can't play with passion and urgency week in week out?

Agreed. The risk of injury is also a concern. Players need more than three days to recover between games. I just don't think they will do it.

Perhaps you should consider not doing that.:roflmao:

Agreed...but much like the Steelers the last couple games the Colts were idiots and abandoned the run. They tried to do what Flacco and Love did and failed badly.

I think part of it was the sample size and part was teams figuring out how to handle it better over time. It still often leads to a crappier level of play, which tends to favor weaker teams. The Steelers were incredibly sloppy in that game. They could have had another 10 or 14 points before halftime, but kept stopping themselves.

In case you didn't notice, it was working early on. Also, the Steelers did a hell of a job on Taylor. He averaged only 3.2 yards per carry in the game.

Should they have tried to settle things down with the running game after the first couple of turnovers? Yes, but I'm not sure it would have worked given how well the Steelers played up front. Most of those turnovers were the result of the Steelers making plays. They pressured Jones, which is how you create turnovers against him. Other than the botched punt return, the Colts didn't hand them anything.

He had 14 carries...he's been almost unstoppable. Their gameplan was to beat the Steelers through the air, in case you didn't notice.

Would the Steelers have continued to keep him bottled up, who knows, but I think old Shane got cocky, pulled a Tomlin and refused to adjust. DJ was rattled.

Their approach early was to beat the Steelers through the air, and it worked right up to the moment Watt made a spectacular play.

Go back and watch those 14 carries. The Steelers handled Taylor well. Should the Colts have leaned on him more? Yes. Did they earn what they did yesterday. Absolutely yes.

Our defense kept Jones rattled and listening for footsteps instead of pocket passing the whole game. Our D line eat their O line up! RB’s are largely great runners due to their linemen and yesterday our line was boss so it shows up in the colts RB stats! It was not pretty if you are a colts fan

I'm not taking away anything from what the Steelers did...I just think it was a poor choice to throw the ball 50 times.

It’s a moral obligation for the more fortunate to help those who need the help

Even when they don’t know they need the help

Our D line is jeckyl/hyde. Shows up one game... gets manhandled the next. Bengals O line supposedly sucks, but yet we couldn't get to Flacco. Packers have a good O line and we couldn't get to Love, while Panthers, of all teams, did a great job of getting pressure on Love. Panthers on the road at Lambeau beat the Packers a week after we got destroyed at home by the same Packers.

    Could be.

IIRC, they generally put noncompetitive games people didn't really care about on Thursdays when it first started.

The Colts came out throwing because if you watched our secondary the past 2 games, not surprised at that. Having our linebackers play like they did sure helped. Wilson was outstanding but Queens took some angles and missed tackles. Sometimes I question Metcalf's hands.

The Steelers did okay against Love early on, then fell apart in the second half. Part of the issue is they don't seem to be able to adjust when certain players are out of the lineup. Once they lost Elliott, they were constantly out of position. They weren't just getting beaten, they were getting beaten quickly, so there was no time for the pressure to get to Love. That's not an excuse. That is a failure by the remaining players on the field and the coaching staff.

The safeties were awful against the Packers. Tomlin adjusted by replacing them, trading for Dugger and starting Ramsey over Thornhill at free safety. It seemed to make a huge difference. That means relying a lot more on Echols and Pierre, which burned them at times, but I'm not sure the Steelers have a choice at this point.

Most of the sacks against the Colts were on deeper drops and slower-developing plays. Jones tore them apart when they didn't pressure him early. Then Watt got a strip sack and Wilson jumped a route or an interception. Suddenly, they were in Jones's head and he reverted back to what we saw for years when he was with the Giants.

I have been questioning Metcalf's hands all season. Even the balls he catches, it isn't always clean, which is what created that brutal interception against the Bengals.

I do it on occasion, too, but how many times are you going to edit this post. I was ready to share Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory with you and you went and removed unintentionally funny comment about math.

I agree with the moral obligation comment. I wonder if you see the irony in your last sentence.

I don't care about the passing yards they still took 5 sacks and had 6 turnovers, those guys are pros too you aren't going to completely shut them down holding Taylor to only 45 yards rushing is more impressive.

Russell Wilson beat the Bengals in a shootout why can't Rodgers do it.
