Porter Jr still seems to hold on every play. It's almost as if on third and long, the opposition just has to throw his way and he will get called. He's not a rookie anymore and just doesn't seem to learn. He also doesn't want to tackle and seems to take plays off. In my opinion, Steelers should just let him walk after his contract is up.

Even if Burrow comes back, he and the offense have to put up 50 to have any shot of winning games

Good summary as always. My takeaways:

    1. Can't believe the turnaround in play design/effectiveness on both sides of the ball after the first quarter

    2. Note to Smith from Q1: the shortest distance between two points is a straight line

    3. Kudos to the Colts staff for the fake punt call - caught me as off-guard as anyone else

    4. The 3rd and 9 conversion and subsequent 36-yard completion to Pierce felt like we were going to be in for a long day

    5. I'm beginning to change my mind on the need for a WR2 - as much as the big packages can work, we need to be able to spread it out with WRs as well

    6. Gainwell continues to impress

    7. Kudos to the D for the turnovers, but seems like it's feast or famine depending on their ability to generate them

    8. Slay is done

    9. Bears repeating - Porter Jr. needs to either stop the grab-ass or hide it better

    10. Why was Herbig lined up 3i on a couple of 3rd downs in Q1

It is preparation time. It is travel time. It is having to stay somewhere on the road rather than being at home. It is wear and tear on the body playing on the short rest. It is a combination of all of those things. You can pull this nonsense all you like, but this has been a league-wide thing since they started regularly playing on Thursday nights. The home teams have a bigger advantage than usual.

57.9 percent advantage for the home team? Its an advantage for the home team but to consider it a gimme win for the home team as your inferring is the real nonsense.

And Tomlin is particularly bad on TNF away games. Bottom 3 in the league. It looks primarily like a Tomlin thing.

    This defense was a shocker.

Who gets the game ball, Highsmith or Mt. Washington?

I'm not mad at him. Personally, I think he's our best CB. He's probably an above average #1 CB but would be a great #2. I hope we extend him over the winter.

    That's fair.

The game plan was great in the first 3 quarters, but I don't like how early they started playing conservative. It seemed to be about 9 or 10 minute mark and we were settling for 1 yard runs.

I'd like to see us try to possess the ball more, and keep these high powered offenses at bay a bit longer.

I think they need to move it to Friday nights tbh. I think the gameplay from everyone would be that much better.

Be realistic the Bengals aren't going to win out with that defense; they have given up at least 38 points the last two games and lost.

There is some kind of law they can't play on Friday nights on a regular basis because of high school football I think.

Funny someone said the Bengals just put up points on us because we are afraid of Flacco......Yet they have scored over 30 points every game since He has been their Qb.

I guess Chase didn't already know what the Bears were going to do on defense since they lost ;)

Was Tomlin calling the defensive plays against the Colts? Or that only becomes a story when the Steelers lose .

Good question. Personally, I'd say another CB off the cuff. I think both Austin and Wilson have solid talents that we need to see more of before casting aside. I question the continued use of heavy packages to advance the passing game. I think you need to be able to spread it out with downfield and/or quick slant threats when needed.

I was trying to keep an eye on Austin and others not named Metcalf, Freiermuth, Howard, and Smith today to see the routes and progressions they appear to have, along with their ability to get separation. Mixed bag.
