Thanks again for the analysis blackandgoldpatrol

The lights are now dimmed with all the praise being heaped on this team.

Grabby Jr. is back. Ramsey got schooled. Both Chase and Higgins had their way with both.

Those who watched saw a chink in the "Historic" defenses armor, who in turn lost this contest.

The forgotten Muth showed he still belongs.

    Warren had a solid game.

Another one of those stinkers that hopefully leaves a bad taste going forward.

Bags Tomlin spewed his popcorn calling out the clowns for trading Flacco to the bungles. How about worrying about your house there Bags and your "Historic" defense. Seems he was living in his fears about the trade. And Flacco was the Boogeyman.

On to Green Bay. At least they will have plenty of time to reassess.

Agreed, Metcalf is no George Pickens when it comes to combat catches.

George would have never let the DB take the ball away from him like Metcalf did tonight.

As far as the Hail Mary, I would have tried to get Boz in range with 7 seconds to go. Rodgers holds the ball for 2 more seconds, Mutch gets another 10 yards, and then Boz comes out to win it with a 65 yard FG with 1 or 2 seconds on the clock. That is Steeler Football to use their Timeouts at the end of the game to stop the clock to setup Boz for a long game winning FG.

DK clearly wasn’t keyed in on the Hail Mary. I don’t think he saw it because by the time it was batted down he was facing away from it. All he had to do was box out and it’s his.

I was extremely impressed on how the offensive line played. When they decided to do it, they were running the ball well. Plus there was a number of plays where Rodgers had all day back there

It’s a signature MT loss. No adjustments line up and do what we do until you realize we can’t play man to man then maybe change the scheme??? Nope not Mike same old **** different year.

This game is absolutely on the coaches the lack of defensive adjustments against Flacco and a poor Cincy OL? Some of the Tomlin apologists are absolutely nuts I swear.

Combine age of 82. That was a great NFL game if I was not a fan of the Steelers.

That first interception was a terrible decision by Rodgers the running game was working why get greedy there, Metcalf was never open on that play and there were two defenders on him. That interception gave the Bengals momentum they scored a TD on that drive.

And how stupid was Jones in tackling Rodgers after the TD? That could have resulted in Rodgers getting injured.

    This team needs to be smarter;

If the pass rush sucks like they did against the Bengals I don't think the coverage matters.

And what adjustment was going to work since some fans know more than the coaches .

He just got caught up in excitement I don't think he meant to tackle him.

Flacco average time to throw = 2.44 sec. Pass rush ain't getting there.

It's the awful play by the secondary that was the problem. Ramsey no longer good enough to cover the top WRs in the league. Too scared to play press. And Porter is just a penalty machine when in man coverage.

It doesn't help when the refs call BS DPI, Chase and Higgins are good enough they don't need the refs help. That DPI on Chase in the endzone was a joke, if they call it correctly as OPI on Chase maybe they hold them to a FG instead of handing them a TD.

Move Watt around as we were getting no pressure? Change your secondary coverage as Chase abused us like a redheaded step child?

Thay have moved Watt around some this season he's still not getting the sacks, Watt was getting chipped at times but Highsmith and Herbig did nothing on the other side.

TJ is washed, he doesn’t play with the relentless motor he used to. I don’t know why he was given more money when the signs we’re obvious in those final games last year

I expected more from the DL sacks from the OLBs can be hit or miss, but the Bengals OL isn't good except for Benton's sack the DL did nothing.

I was just waiting for Herbig or Watt to come up with that strip sack like they have done in the past.

You’re assuming Pickens would be engaged and not off fighting with the fans or a Cincy player like he did last year. Part of the reason he is gone is because he is too easily taken out of the game mentally.

#6 is the silver lining of that miserable game. Muth is so much better than he has shown, he needs to be the lead receiving TE.

Coaches finally remembered Wilson was on the team.

Both should be more involved moving forward.

So the defense or the lack thereof had nothing to do with loss?
Giving up 450 yds is on the refs?
    Interesting

This loss was mainly on the D Line (including our edges). They were terrible last night. They were utterly and completely dominated by a mediocre Bengals O Line. There’s no excuse for their play.

Our pass defense is dependent on the talent that we have up front and on the edges to make things uncomfortable for the QB and rush decision-making. Flacco was comfortable enough to set up an easy chair in the pocket.

Our personnel in the secondary are really not capable of playing man coverage on quality receivers and need the D front to do their jobs.
