    1. Preseason or not..... a win is a win

    2. Loved the way we attacked the middle all game

    3. Looking forward to the te explosion in this offense

    4. Isaiah loudermilk's roughing penalty, while a bit ticky tack, was still sophomoric and unacceptable for a veteran... he single handedly turned a turnover into a Jacksonville td

    5. Roc Taylor is upsetting the natural order in the wr rm

    6. Juan Thornhill may very well be the answer in the middle of the secondary

    7. Run blocking left a lot to be desired

    8. Kaleb Johnson still has some work to as a receiver and blocker

    9. Skylar Thompson was surprisingly efficient..... a shame he will lose the numbers game when Will Howard is cleared again

    10. If someone beats me to Boz in fantasy football, my fallback is definitely Cam Stills

As much as I tell myself it's meaningless it feels almost as good as the win against the Jets will feel.

I really only watched the OTs. We used a lot of different combinations. #60 looked the best in that scrimmage at both OT spots, IMO. #78 was getting ran around, having trouble keeping his guy in front of him. #68 kept getting rocked back on his heels, he kept his guy in front but had trouble with hands in his chest. #77, looked good at times, looked totally lost at times, he would totally lose his man on some plays, I don't know if he was closing his eyes or what, weird. #76 looked very good on his snaps, kept in front, good lateral movement, clean pass offs, always looking for someone to hit.

Not a clean scrimmage by the OTs at all, but still good looks at several.

    7. Run blocking was indeed bad but pass blocking on the other hand was really good
    8. He does he has grit but needs work I am sure the coaching staff will have some influence and game him up.

Pre season means next to nothing However…… I’d rather the offense look good then struggle.

I’m hoping to have time to watch a replay and do exactly that. #60 is Dylan Cook, and of all of the “hopefuls” we have had in camp and preseasons in the past few years, he’s the one that gives me optimism that he can make it as an NFL tackle. I think there’s something there to work with.

Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu were big winners as I saw it yesterday. More so for Broderick. Going up against a Top 10 EDGE Player in Josh Allen and doing quite well no less?! A major step forward indeed.

Seems every camp there is a WR glows, gets released and/or sent to PS and is never heard of again. Roc Taylor may end up being one of those guys, but they damn sure better look long and hard at what they have and what this guy is bringing, not saying he will be a super star, but he has something we have been missing for years.

I haven't read any opinions in here, just came to this thread and jotting down a few thoughts.

It is preseason, and it's the first outing. Expectations should not be really high but a few things you want to check off you checklist form the persona of the Steelers:

    1. You're not looking for 'W's" - that's only for the preseason champs, the Ravens.
    2. You do want to see something from the players that 'could' make the team. - Check
    3. You don't want to see chaos: can't line up, can't get the snap count, etc.... - Check
    4. You like to see something from players like Cole Holcomb - Check, he can play and did well.
    5. You want to see some line play, and QB making some reasonable reads. - Check
    a. Mason is, well Mason. He is inconsistent.
    b. Skylar Thompson did better than I thought.
    c. Logan whats-his-name is fodder.
Note: I thought all along the Steelers should have went out and got Sam Howell. I think a QB room of Rogers, Howell and Howard would be better and think that is still true.
But it is what it is. I think we'll be ok.
    6. You want to see Special teams and have players playing that contribute. You want to see good snaps, decent blocking, good kicking. - Check.
    7. Running. I think the ground attack is where it is. I'll say, room for improvement which I think will come along.

Overall, I like the TE Washington. For a bug guy he moves quick and with those hands, he can make some grabs. Looks like a good blocker.
I don't know if it is really a competition, but I liked Skylar better than Mason.
Overall, I think the team looks coached. It was not perfect but it wasn't bad. Guys that might not even be in the NFL came up with plays and while mistakes were made, they did what they should.
Going forward, there's some players that bear watching.
I don't think Rogers will play game 2 either but Maybe they give vets a few snaps to shake rust off and.

Edit: Oh, a 70-Yard FG?! That could have been good from 75. Hard not to admire that!

It's going to be very difficult to get this roster down to 53. Some players are on the bubble. There was maybe 2 guys that shiat the bed ..

well let's just hope we didn't pass on our franchise QB.For an old man--- 2 back-ups--and an injured QB.Because Sanders looks good for the Browns--And it will suck if our whole div. has better QB than us..

Sanders looked good against backups. I wasn't impressed. Skylar Thompson of Steelers looked better, IMO.

Howell is gonna end up on practice squad. So far it's Rodgers, Rudolph and Thompson. Steelers should roll with 3 QBs on the 53.

Skylar Thompson has years of proving he is not a good NFL quarterback. I sure as hell hope they don't lose Howard to keep him as No. 3.

They will likely try to put Thompson on the practice squad.
