If Kenny is out for a short period (2-3 games), I believe the steelers can survive and win 2 games if the schedule is not too hard... I mean, Tomlin has already been able to win some games with Dennis Dixon in 2010, a washed Michael Vick in 2015 and 3 games with Delvin Hodges in 2019 and Mitch is much better than his 3 QBs.... But of course, if it's for a long period of time, it's completely another story!

I’m a tad older or so and if someone called me a twit they would be assaulted by me

Although shortly thereafter I would get the snot beat out of me but the point would have been made

looks like we have a difference of opinion on Mitch being a solid backup or not and how he compares to Mason. I’m glad we’re taking about this rather than is KP a capable starter or not.

Like Chuck Noll said, best way to keep the critics quiet is to win - play well - applies to everyone - coaches, coordinators and players

Just to be clear you aren’t quoting Noah Strackbein are you

If so shame on you and turn in your Steeler man card

That dingleberry has yet to have an intelligent thought

He makes a headline to get clicks and then makes conjecture based on other peoples thoughts

Plus since you are new as an FYI

If you throw something like that out provide a link to back you up

    Agree on KFP ;)

Hope we don't have to see either Mitch or Mason this season

LoL. :roflmao:You are such a Qb know it all. LoL . Sorry I didn't realize only You knew so much about Qbs.
Yeah they are just lining up for Mitch. You do know He took a cut in pay so He could stay.....why because nobody is lining up to get him. So make what You said make sense.

They were not roll outs. I hear this a lot. If it was a roll out ....You could tell by the blocking scheme.....if it was a naked boot...You could tell by the wrs routes. He had to scramble a few times, but one time He did when the right side started to close on Him, and could have stepped up. When you scramble to the left or right ....You are cutting off half Your field, and weapons. Like I said I get the ones He was forced to, but You don't want to make a habit of it.

Again. It appears You did not watch the game. That pick was because of a terribly under thrown pass. Yeah You know Qbs....LoL :lolol:

I would trade both for Case Keenum in a heartbeat.

I didn't say they were designed roll outs, I said he broke the pocket intentionally to the side of an open receiver. And both times the throw was for a first down so it seems to be splitting hairs a little bit to nit pick. Either way, I don't believe he could have stepped up nor should be have so we will agree to disagree.

yeah, you can’t blame the receiver on that play. That’s a very difficult catch to make with the defender all over you. If I made that pass I’d be kicking myself. But of course Mitch still thinks he’s a starter and this stuff is not his fault.

I would go into a big thing about how that is a bad habit , but I'll let you figure out why. Your an intelligent man. Just think about this when figuring it out. What does the D of the teams we play see when they watch this, and remember where the rules are designed to keep You protected.

Well to be fair if a wr gets his hands on the ball ot should be caught, but if it was thrown correctly He probably would have. Anyone that watched can say that wasn't a terribly under thrown ball. That's completely on Trubisky , but white should have helped him out.

Meanwhile, I’m going to give a little credit to Rudolph for that 67 yard TD with a defender right in his face about to hit him. That was a big time throw.

the guy gets very little credit, I think moats is right, the Rudolph hate is real

Look, I'm not saying Mitch is amazing, he's just a back up QB. My point is that Mason Rudolph is terrible, and people want to throw him in at back up QB for this team because he threw a pretty deep ball.

Mitch didn't take a pay cut, he signed an extension that lowered his cap hit this year. It was essentially an extra year and 5.2 million on top of the 2 years 14 million he originally signed. Nobody was "lining up to get him" because he was under contract and not available to be had... Mason signed for 1 year, 1 million after he had no interest from anyone in the open market.

I won't be able to wrap my head around this one at all. I can usually see the "devil's advocate" or the other side in most situations, but this one is just confusing. I'll just agree to disagree. There's no malice in it. I'm not cheering against him or anything. I know what it's like to chase a professional sports dream and come close but not close enough. He probably knows just as much as anyone that the days of people willingly paying him to play football are nearly done. It was almost done a few months ago and he was lucky enough to get one more year in the show.

Yes, the Rudolph hate is real. That's how Steeler fans roll. We have to have a couple of guys on the team to hate.

One has to be a coach of course. We're pretty easy on position coaches and defensive coordinators, but there HAS to be a villain among the head coach, defensive coordinator, and special teams coach.

Likewise we have to have at least one player to hate. 90% of the time that's a QB. He could be the starter or a backup, but SOMEONE has to be hated.

Currently Canada is the villain among the coaching staff. Nothing new there, as we rarely have a beloved O Coordinator. Rudolph is our Player To Hate, and that's a good thing. If the most hated player on a Steelers team is the #3 QB that only means the team as a whole is pretty solid. But we have to have Somebody To (not) Love.

Yeah, I'm listening to Jefferson Airplane tonight.

Correctly pointing out a player's flaws isn't hate just because you like the guy.

He still has the same flaws he had as a rookie. His footwork sucks. He struggles on short and intermediate throws to the sideline. His pocket presence is a problem. Nobody is questioning his toughness or his ability to throw the deep ball, but the rest of his game just isn't good enough.

The Steelers made that clear when they did everything they could to ensure he wasn't their quarterback last year. That is why they kept Haskins and signed Trubisky. They weren't sure Pickett was going to make it to them, so they made sure they had options other than Rudolph. Then he went on the open market and couldn't find an offer. He made it very clear he did not want to be a Steeler any more last season, but he had to come crawling back for a one-year, $1 million deal as the third stringer.

Trubisky isn't great, either, but he is likely to be the No. 2 quarterback again. A bomb or two against third and fourth stringers isn't going to change that.

I was around 13 when I saw them sing "White Rabbit" on the "Smothers Brothers" show. I fell head over heels for Grace Slick.
