My team just did the unthinkable.

For any soccer fans out their. My team has just achieved the unthinkable. Coming back from losing 0-4 in the first play off game to win 5-1 in the second game and take it to penalties and win. I have never been at a game with a more incredible atmosphere. It's already being talked about as one of the most incredible comebacks in the history of the sport. I'm still on cloud 9, am I dreaming? Just for context we have and a miserable 25+ years of failure, nearly going out of business, disappointments and let downs.

 

Don't follow it but I know the rest of the world does, congrats!

You sound a bit like me with the MLB team Pittsburgh Pirates. MLB is a sport where money does the talking and my beloved Pirates will never spend to contend but as I type this we are in first place in our division. Won't last but the feeling is just like you say.

On another note, I'm 100% convinced Soccer will overtake Hockey and Basketball in my country someday. I won't be around to see it but I can see it coming.

Hey I watched the highlights on the net. Fans went bat**** crazy!!!! Now that is a great feeling in life.

Question: In USA NFL hands down the biggest football league we have. Now Soccer seems to have many leagues which confuse the hell out of me. If I was the greatest Soccer player in the World what league would give me the most $$$$ and most recognition??????? Basically which is the biggest most popular league where my name would be known everywhere but USA???????????????

 

Notable exception? 2023 Padres!

Could be. San Diego has spent a bazillion dollars over the last few seasons and have A bunch of individual egos instead of a team, IMO.

 

Definitely the best is the English Premier League which is the top level in world football in terms of quality and wages. After that it's probably the top league in Spain (La Liga), the top league in Italy (Serie A) and the top league in Germany (Bundesliga).

The cool thing is that the best teams in those leagues named above play against teams in their own country but also play against teams from other countries in a competition called the ChampionsLeague. This is done inbetween games against teams from their own countries.

I know its confusing. It's because there are so many competitions that all run at the same time and transcend countries and leagues. I mean there are even competitions that include semi professional and amateur teams that can work their way up to play against professional teams such as the FA Cup.

Again the beauty of soccer in Europe mainly is no matter how small your team is one day it could achieve great things. Its basically because of the nature of ultra capitalism in the game. Which isn't always good but allows for wild amounts of investment.

 

After your post I did some research and your post made it a lot easier. I love the World Cup. I live near the city of Philadelphia and they are hosting a few of the games when it happens. I think USA, Canada and Mexico will be hosting the next World Cup. I hope to hell Philly gets some of the bigger countries.
