    LCB:
    Burns
    Sensabaugh
    Gay

    RCB:
    Haden
    Cockrell
    Gay

    NB:
    Hilton
    Sutton
    Gay

    Dime:
    Gay

    FS: Mitchell , Gay
    SS: Davis, Dangerfield

    Keeping 10 DBs.
Notes: why lose Ross? He is a decent CB playing zone and had a solid game last year vs. AJ Green.

Hilton has shown he can play the slot. He can also blitz with success, something Butler is doing more of with his CBs, and is solid in Run support.

Sutton may upset this depth chart midseason but right now he's missed too much time to start anywhere.

Gay, being the wily seasoned vet is a key backup everywhere in case of injuries and Dime packages. Increased role on ST.

Dangerfield 1st Safety on the field in relief.

depends on sutton on the outside as that 2nd or 3rd option. sensabaugh is also an option in the slot as the nickle and on the outside. i'm not sure we keep that 1.9 mil salary of ross just to be a BU with the other options. phillips is yet to be looked at too. i still think dixon shows some man prowess as maybe the 6th option. jacory sheppard too. many guys on display fighting for a spot tonight. will ross play? show us what ya got night.:cool:

I like this option...but, I don't know if mitchell will be ready. So, that would throw gay right in as a starter

I'm starting to worry a bit about Sutton. What do you think? Seems like he can't get healthy enough to be on the field.

Agreed but it won't make much difference if he can't stay healthy enough to suit up and play. Maybe he will get over his pre-season injury and be good to go the rest of the season. I see NE has another injury to deal with but they are pretty good at over coming things.

Why are you moving Burns to the left side? He plays right side.

    LCB: Haden, Sensabaugh
    RCB: Burns, Sensabauh
    NickelSlot: Gay, Hilton, Sensabaugh
    DimeCover: Hilton, Sensabaugh

Those are the 5 who will dress each week. Sutton is the scratch.

    SS: Mitchell, Golden, Dangerfield
    FS: Davis, Golden, Dangerfield
    DimeBig: Golden, Dangerfield

Mitchell has missed the entire preseason
Davis has looked like **** the entire preseason
    Golden is Golden
    Dangerfield is Dangerfield

    Scary....

Burns has been playing LCB. So does Haden. So is Burns moved back to RCB( college ) or keep him and let Haden the more experienced CB move to RCB....
I don't know and really don't care. Arguments can be made either way.

Hilton has taken NB position over Gay. Dangerfield has taken Goldens B/U Safety role.

Allen to me just has shown the urgency and aggressiveness to make the roster. He has the size and hands to play safety IF he committ to hitting and tackling a little more.

Burns has played nothing but RCB in the NFL. Burns has not been playing LCB in the preseason at all. Like... not a single snap.

He took every snap vs Atlanta at RCB
    The Atlanta game was:
    1ST UNIT: Burns RCB/Cockrell LCB/Gay Slot/Golden SS/Davis FS
    2ND UNIT Phillips RCB/Sensabaugh LCB/Hilton Slot/Hagen SS/Dangerfield FS

    The Indy game was:
1ST UNIT: Burns RCB/Cockrell AND Sensabaugh LCB/Gay AND Hilton Slot/Golden and Dangerfield SS/Davis FS (no change)
Ross and Coty rotated LCB with the 1st unit
Gay and Hilton rotated Slot with the 1st unit
Gay and Hilton also rotated between Dime and Nickelback when we used our Dime package.
Golden and Dangerfield rotated SS with the 1st unit
Hilton did also get some reps out LCB, with Gay in the slot (when Colts were in red zone)

The first unit and these rotations went on in to the 3rd quarter. The only change was Sutton getting action in the slot (with Burns, Cockrell, Golden, Davis)

2nd UNIT: Dixon RCB, Allen LCB, Sutton Slot, Malik Golden and Hagen

Again, Burns... has not taken a single snap at LCB

Should I go on? I think so....

    The Carolina game:
1st UNIT: Burns RCB, Cockrell LCB, Hilton Slot, Gay Dime, Golden SS, Davis FS
Ross and Coty rotated LCB with the 1st unit (2ND SERIES)
Golden and Dangerfield rotated SS with the 1st unit (2ND SERIES)
Ross moved to RCB with Coty staying at LCB (3rd Series)
Golden moved back in for Dangerfield (3rd series)

The 4th series saw Sutton return to the slot, with Coty/Ross/Golden/Davis remaining.

The 5th series saw the move to 2nd unit with Sutton and Allen getting Outside work, and Malik and Hagen taken over the back end. Hilton came in and played the Slot.

    So... basically to summarize.
No. Burns has not been playing LCB
It's certainly not clear yet that Hilton has taken Gay's slot role. What is clear is that they will be the Nickel and Dime backs.
It's certainly not clear yet that Dangerfield has passed Golden on the depth chart. What is clear is that there has been a fairly open competition for that spot. Golden has started every game, while Dangerfield has rotated in with the 1st unit.

    Hope that helps

ps Joe Haden has played primarily LCB thoughout his career.

So...... The Steelers Depth chart list Burns as LCB..... Bob Labriola(sp?) of Steelers.com says the plan is to move Burns from LCB to RCB which was his natural position and then watching the games burns lines up on the left side but yet he's always been. RCB ??? ...... OK you win!!!

Note.... He has played RCB.... Depends on the WR and game situation ...... But I must be wrong, you win

I honestly can't recall seeing Burns line up anywhere but RCB.

Haden Signing may move Burns from LCB to RCB......

My secondary depth chart and I prefer to Leave Burns at LCB and move Haden to RCB....

Last year Ross started at LCB and Gay on the Right.... Maybe game 5(?) burns began to start as Davis replaced Golden at safety , Burns at RCB. You really don't want a rookie at LCB unless he proves he. An handle it.

Ross' struggles at man pressure LCB and Burns upwards development is what prompted the switch.

They've both taken snaps at each position and Burns given LCB, they signed Sensabaugh to compete with Ross at the RCB.

Ross got burned on a deep out by an indrafted WR in Hame 3 (colts) while playing LCB.... Hmm.... Browns cut Haden and now the coaches plans are to keep him at LCB and move Burns back to RCB...... Which means trouble for Ross it seems.

Journalism isn't what it use to be:lolol:

When talking about the defensive alignment, it is flipped from that of the offense.

For instance the LDE (Tuitt) abd LOLB (Dupree) go up against the the right side of the Offensive Line.

I always recall Cockrell as the LCB and Burns as the RCB for the most part

Since Ike left we haven't done too much shadowing I don't think.
