You're crazy to spend that much.

If you want to go to a game on the cheap, go in Nov/Dec against a crappy team in crappy weather. I usually split my seats with a friend of mine who a couple of nights before the Bengals game 2 seasons ago couldn't go. It was a cold rainy day and I couldn't GIVE the tickets away. I figured I'd go down to the stadium early and sell them to a scalper. Like an idiot I figured I'd make money on the deal (IIRC they were $78 each back then). I figured I could get $100 each since I was there early (9am) and...well...Hey its the Steelers and these tickets should be like gold. Anyway right after the West End Bridge, before I parked, a scalper offered me $40/each. I laughed at him and he said "you'll regret it."

Boy did I ever. After walking up and down General Robinson for an hour in the cold rain and negotiating with low life dirt balls I finally gave them away for $25 each. And the scalper was doing ME a favor. Lost my ass on those seats and learned a lesson...the hard way.

So much for the so-called support through thick and thin that Steelers fans supposedly have.

Another option is to wait until Nov/Dec when the Steelers are out or just about out of the playoff hunt and buy your tickets on gameday from a scalper. Should be cheap and easy to come by. I remember going to the Steelers/Packers game the year after SB 43. IIRC they were 6-7 at that point and were long shots even for a Wild Card. Plus it was cold. Very cold. My buddy and I went and met up with another friend (who is a Cowgirl fan) and a female friend of his. Before the game over lunch I told the Cowgirl fan "just watch how empty the stadium is today. They're out of it and its cold as hell." He said "NO! Steeler fans support their team regardless." Well, the stadium was a ghost town for that game. So bad that there were 8 empty seats behind theirs and the four of us were able to sit together. He was shocked at the lack of people in attendance. I said "I told you so."

Again, so much for the so-called support through thick and thin.

The moral of the story is that if you want to see the Steelers on a budget, you can do so if you pick and choose wisely. NEVER EVER EVER spend 3 and 4 time face value unless you've got money to burn.

Every year when I get my Invoice I do my taxes. Then I basically send the refund to the Steelers.
