Kenny will get better with time, its a fact, we cant expect him to come in n win 15 inna row like ben did! Look at the team ben had around him, we have alotta talent on the team, this falls in the coachin staff, Canada cant tie his own shoes n im concerned why in every game the 10 yd underneath in middle of field is always WFO?? Austins Dfensive plan is “keep it in front of you, dont get beat deep” therefore 6-8 yrds is always there for teams to move chains, rhis is terrible, is it possible to switch the hol team n coaches out at the bye! Please help!

You have to keep in mind that the game he played and Fitzpatrick didn't was against the Bucs, who are a mess. I'm among those who didn't realize just how bad things had gotten and hoped that maybe that was all the defense coming together. The secondary wasn't bad that day, but Brady sucked, in large part because the pass rush pressured him into sucking.

Edmunds has become a good safety, though he can still be exploited as the Browns did and he makes very few big plays. He had opportunities to create turnovers last night and failed to get it done.

After rewatching the game, especially that first quarter..
The Question to myself was, "Would any of these guys start on teams like the Bills?"

I think the combo of Fitzpatrick and Edmunds seems to be performing better. But I think anything beyond those two are a roll of the dice.
They are going to have to find a good shutdown corner. A guy that you can count on and put him on the best receiver the opponent has.

TJ is sorely missed but you have to have the 'next man up' and be able to generate sacks/pressure.
They need some speed injected into the defense as well as some youth.

    re: Pickett
I don't think that's a worry yet. They asked him to throw 44 times, and that is a bit much.
A rookie pitch count should not be in the 40's... it should probably be around the 20's
Why is it in the 40's? Because we can't run the ball.
I did see Harris regain some of his form, I guess a steel plate is a pain in the @#$
But they need to keep pounding the rock. 95 yards (20 by Pickett) is not going to cut it.

Kudos to Pickens... man that guy can catch.

He can catch, but I'm not sure how much he is getting open. Then again, I think a lot of that is the unimaginative play calling of Canada. They just don't do much to get the receivers open, especially over the middle. That's a big problem for Pickett, who thrives on using the middle of the field. He did it at Pitt and he has made some of his most impressive throws in that area of the field. Take his throw to Freiermuth to convert the fourth down on that final drive last night. That was a beautiful throw into an extremely tight window. They just don't seem to be letting him run those plays until things get desperate.

No one recognized that the team has played much better the past 2 games?
Pickett is a work in progress but he made some really good throws. And as much as I cringe at times with Canada, his play calling kept us ahead of the sticks by getting 3-4 yards on 1st down. That is how to protect a young QB.
The defense played very well but for the dropped INT’s which cost us at least 6 points, and possibly more. Devin Bush has improved his play as has Edmunds.
We need 2 difference makers on OL, a legit #1CB, and some more Dline and LB help. We should get half of this in the April draft and the other half in the 2024 draft. By that point we will have enough of a sample size on Pickett to know whether the INT’s are a rookie aberration, or just who he is.

Yes, after 20 years of not having high draft picks, we need to be bad for 2 years and we will be good again pretty quickly.

Sorry, I am going to have to whole heartedly disagree with that assessment of Edmonds. Yes I will admit he has made more plays these past two weeks, but thats not saying he has outplayed anyone. It simply means he has outplayed his previous garbage play. I think if he continues to improve, we may keep him, which I think will be a major mistake because he is still not a good safety by NFL standards.

How do you get a guy like him open? Motion. Move him around to force mismatches and mistakes.
I am currently tasked with a project to see how much they move him around and how they deploy him from what formations.
So far, I think I can agree but with a few caveats.
    More around the bye.

Kenny is at least the 4th QB to look terrible running this offense. Let's not forget Ben, Mason, and Mitch all struggled to get first downs as well. You cannot consistently drive the field when every pass play is 5 yards or less- unless of course it's 3rd and 2...then yea we going deep!.

I can't help but think the coaching staff continues to over rate this WR group. It's the WORST group of WR's we have had in decades. Half of Kenny's INT's were on the WR's. Then also consider how well has the coaching staff prepared Kenny? Seeing how well we are prepared at every other position leads me to believe he's also not getting the proper coaching. I'd like to know what happened on the INT's last night. Kenny said he thought Johnson was going to come back on that last INT. If Johnson did start running to Kenny that probably is not an INT. Not saying it was Johnsons fault. Kenny should have ran the ball but it was a communication or mental error . I do know when our Qb's roll out the WR's are suppose to come back to the QB.

The offensive play calling is laughably bad . Why are we ignoring our Qb's strengths so we can force this moronic college level offense ? Canada's offenses have never worked. He was a disaster in Wisconsin and he's a disaster here. Tomlin should be fired just for putting up with it for this long. Kenny throws an accurate ball... his issues so far have been mental. He looks like he's a gamer but I don't think he's been properly prepared to run an offense that is a disaster from the start.

He's a very good safety by NFL standards.
Problem here is that he's mediocre and sometimes outright sucks by Steelers standards..... I freely admit to the same opinion sometimes... After a lifetime of Mike Wagner, Donnie Shell, Carnell Lake and Troy Polamalu, just simply steady doesn't quite cut it.... But I can't overlook his steady progress and solid, but unspectacular play....
Face it..... We are a very spoiled bunch

Edmunds has gone from below average to good. Bringing him back worked out. He just doesn't make enough big plays. His current level of play would be fine if he had been selected in the second or third round, where he belonged. He just wasn't worth the first-round pick the Steelers spent on him, not when studs like Chubb and Leonard were available.

Pickens doesn’t seem to need to be open, he can go get the ball almost anywhere around a defender.

Was a disaster too at LSU. LSU lost to Troy and Ed O blamed the offense. Coach O said something like he had to admit when he makes mistakes and hiring Canada was a mistake. They fired him, buying out his contract. Then LSU won the NC.

My son mentioned last night that DJ and Claypool have a low football IQ and I tend to agree. They’ve provided very little help for KP and right now he needs all the help he can get. Ben had Hines Ward who had an unbelievably high football IQ and even Plaxico knew how to maneuver to give himself leverage over the DB. It seems like even when DJ and Claypool are making catches the DB is either draped all over them or in very close proximity. Even Romo got on Claypool and said he was not quarterback friendly when it comes to finding daylight in the zone. Part of it’s instinct and a big part of it is coaching.

ill bet Favre Wishes he ran for the 1st and out of bounds as opposed to throwing his pick when Minnesota was SB bound against the saints.

that was tough on the young man… you could see it in his face. Hopefully he learns from it. I think he has the tools and upside in spite of the game plan which has shown a HOF’er and scrubs yield similar results outside of HOF’ers heroics in crunch time the last few years behind fichtner and Canada. I think a seasoned Pickett would be able to surpass these play calls but he’s a rook on a leash with a learning curve.

we’ll all find out how serviceable his future will be. This team and it’s handlers would be beyond stupid to go QB again this draft. Straighten out the trenches and get some secondary help.

They aren't going to give up on Pickett after one year, if they get a top 5 pick take a LT or trade down.

It would help Wallace and the other CBs if there was a consistent pass rush.

Highsmith leads the league in sacks, with TJ out he's getting more attention.

I need to pay more attention to what Highsmith is going through, few times i've noticed he's been picked up by one blocker. I still think we need a third OLB, seems were annually without Watt's services for a number of games per season - he's seeming more and more injury prone.

I like your observations so let me ask your opinion.
Do you see najee and Warren as two individual average performers?
I see them as a good tandem together.

The problem I had with the Watt contract was we were never going to be a contender during it. This team is several years away from being relevant assuming we don’t mess up the drafts. He’s undoubtedly a great player and deserved a big contract just wish someone else would have given it to him. This is TJs 6th year and the Steelers have won 0 playoff games with him. Money could have been used elsewhere among the many holes this team has. Now we are tied up with him and he is 1 more injury away from going down the same path as his brother. The injury to his Pec didn’t even look bad when he tried grabbing Burrow and on top of it he’s getting knees scoped. Sounds like a guy already breaking down and age won’t do him any favors.

If Steelers could get a running game going, you would see a different offense altogether. I would like
to see Steelers hire a run game coordinator who understands how important run game is. Not every team
    can have a Pat Mahomes.
