You're not wrong. But can you honestly look at MR and say the "diamonds in the rough" mentality is true with him? I just don't see it.

Bush was clearly avoiding contact during the game. I saw the same thing from Minkah at times. I'm not sure I've ever actually seen that from a pro football player. I guess they are so hurt they were protecting themselves? Was very strange seeing two formerly good players going half speed and purposely avoiding contact.

As our back up QB, I believe Mason did enough to win this game if everyone else did as well. Looking at what's been written above already, OL sucked, WR's sucked, D sucked, coaches sucked, weather sucked. But hey, lets just take the easy way and say MR didn't show he was a starting QB today. I wonder what would have been the MR hate posts if we didn't fumble, not once, but 2x in OT, and Boz pulled it out? Even winning this sloppy game wouldn't have been enough. How about the genius coaching and play calling. On a horrible wet, windy, and cold day, lets have MR throw the freaking ball 50 times to help him out. Wait, that wasn't a good coaching decision either? Well, what in the hell did MR have going for him that Ben did last week against the Bears? But, hey, we can't win without Ben. At 5-4-1, MR's record is what I would expect from a back up QB who rarely see's the field. Last week, GB's #1 draft pick Love was put into a similar situation with Rodgers out with COVID. GB's coaches only let Love throw 34 times in that game. Gee wiz, wonder why so few in good weather? How do you think MR did compared to Love's game last week? Based on the circumstances, I think a lot better. Granted, they were playing at KC but KC wasn't doing all that great either. Plus, being a #1 draft pick you'd think he'd be up to the challenge. Batch was a great BU QB for us, but then again, he was a starting QB for Detroit for years before coming here. Lefty too. I don't know if our future franchise QB is on the team or out of high school yet, but some perspective is needed. We are what we are are so I think its better to support what we have than to keep knocking it down. No one is going to change anything on here anyway so this is my last post on this subject. Go Ben, Go Mason, Go Steelers. JMO>

    Some observations for me:
    • Refs were killing us towards the end of that game.
    • I don't get why McCloud was the primary receiver vs. Lions? I'd rather be trying to get the ball to Muth, Harris, DJ, or Washington in that order.
    • Ebron was on the field a lot during the game, but when he came in Muth was coming off the field. You can't take Muth off the field he is one of our best players.

This team is soft and they get punched in the mouth pretty often on both sides of the ball in the box... All of our QB'S are not elite passers or pre snap gurus.. Mason did a good job scrambling and made a few key throws...A more mobile QB could break one of those scrambles and would also open up better running and passing lanes..Look at what Conner did against SF when their mobile QB played .. Dobbs is still the best option to improve the running game and manage the game next season ...I think Mason played ok , but he showed his ceiling is very low IMO and should not be kept next season..

This Team is really going nowhere this season so at some point we need to roll out Haskins and see if we need 1 QB or 2 next season...Maybe we can roll with Dobbs and Haskins and a later round hopeful at QB and build the Team some before chasing the QB..

I would go with Team building a few moves would be to draft a Center or sign a good FA and move Greene to guard I thought he was best suited to play guard from jump .. Draft a CB high or trade for 1 that can play man coverage see if Haden could make the move to S and if Edmunds could make the move to MLB ? Determine our best run blocking scheme and the types of guys needed to make it run... As stated my fav has always been Big,Fast,Big,Fast, Big I like stronger players on the edge and a stronger guy to anchor the Center a later round possible could be Andrew Stueber he is 6'6 341 lbs. ..Any Te's and WR'S and the OG'S can help chip and square defenders up for the bigger guys to maul them , then the faster Guards can pull either direction and can lead block anywhere on the field creating a more veratile running attack that allows the RB to hit the holes faster ...

The bottom line is IMO this Team needs a lot of work and going QB early or signing a big time FA is probably a mistake ..

What I noticed was just a horrible game plan. Tomlin and Rudolph both said changes weren't made to the game plan once Ben was ruled out. Assuming that's true, and it probably is based on the timing, why the hell was the game plan to throw that often? That shouldn't have been the game plan with Ben, but if it was, it should have absolutely been changed once Ben was ruled out.

No Juju and no Claypool, we shouldn't have been throwing nearly that much. Look at what Belichek has done with Mac Jones. He's sheltering him and he's succeeding as a result. All of our QB's need sheltering because they're not very good. They aren't going to be successful by lining up and throwing 50+ times. Nothing good will come from that.

Yeah, we got bad performances from some players, but when the game plan is bad, it's an uphill battle before it even starts. Our coaches made life difficult for our players, and we don't have a good enough team to overcome that.

Did some of you just look at the box score and the highlights and not watch the game? They were running the ball early, then both starting guards got hurt. Once that happened, Harris had nowhere to run, so they had to throw more. That's not to say the play-calling was great, or even good. It wasn't, but some of it was due to personnel issues.

When Rudolphs career arc follows that of Landry Jones, his fans will still be clamoring that he could have been good if he just got a fair shake

We aren’t even talking about OT if Rudolph could have made a simple throw that even peewee QB’s can make.

there’s not enough drugs in the world for you to believe Rudolph is going to develop into something great.

We all got to see what the alternative is. He’s TERRIBLE. I hope and pray for all of us he never plays another down as a starter.

The game plan made no sense, Ray Ray had like 12 targets , Diontae, Muth, or Washington should've been getting those targets instead.

This team does not play consistent, fundamentally sound football. They just don't. If they play smart, tackle like they should and protect the damn ball, they probably win going away. The thing that has me concerned is when Schobert and Hayward both comment on an apparent lack of intensity and disregard for attention to details at practice. Sorry, folks but that's on the head coach. It's all fine and good that the team never quits on him, but what good is that if they are arrows without feathers? They do not have the talent to loaf at practice or in the film room. Honestly, I'll be more interested in seeing who cares, who wants to stay and who plays hard the rest of this year because the only way this team makes the playoffs is if they back in and are used as cannon fodder in the WC round.

Marino was still a rare thing and the 3-4 yr philosophy still held...... It wasn't until Ben, 20 yrs later that coaches and fans started to look for instant success
