    The only thing that stopped the 49ers from a perfect season in 1984 was a 20-17 Week 7 home loss to The Steelers.

    Chuck Noll beat Bill Walsh's team the only way he could, by keeping Joe Montana off the field.
    43 rushes by Frank Pollard, Rich Erenberg and Walter Abercrombie totaled 172 yards and 34:45 time of possession. Not the prettiest win but it was a big upset and the '72 Dolphins still owe The Steelers a debt of gratitude.
