...This is hard. Heath starts the season on PUP and replaces McCoy when he returns. I don't we're done with OL depth. I have us signing Antoine Caldwell as a free agent, and probably another tackle (maybe max starks). I put Golic in there, but honestly I highlight doubt he makes the team, he may make the P.S. So I'm torn there, just not many options as of now.

I kept adding and subtracting guys, so that's why my math is off. Not sure how I got Jonathan Gilbert.

 

i think he had in mind jonathan scott , because gilbert could be a bust , essentially in our brain a possible ot bust become named jonathan directly ... not a good sign for gilbert

 

I only watched Mike Golic Jr play a couple of times last year. He did play a great game in the championship against Alabama. Thoughts of him making the final cut?

 

Long shot is really all I can say. The fact that nobody draft him likely means he's safe to make it to the PS (what team is really going to follow an UDFA OT that closely in preseason).

I just don't have any other options at this point. We tried out Winston Justice this week, but he's met with several other teams too. So I think out backup tackles probably aren't on the roster yet.

 

I like what you have done, but I think I would make a couple of changes.

First, it is obvious that we lack serious depth on the Oline. The number of UDFAs signed by the front office proves that.

Second, due to this, I think we have a hard time finding 10 Olineman which are among our best 50 position players. I expect we only carry 9. With the ability for Foster or Beachum to play tackle, I think we only carry 9 guys.

Third, I think we end up carrying 7 Dlineman again. I think Fangupo ends up making the squad. When Keisel goes, it would not surprise me to see McLendon made into an end with us still having 6 deep on the line. Just my thought.

Someone mentioned Nick Williams, IMO, as a 7th round pick, he is destined for the PS.

 

My thought was we've had tons of injuries on the OL recently, and could use the extra depth... but you're right about the lack of talent. I guess they could roll with 9 and add someone if they needed to if there was an injury.

I liked the Nick Williams pick but no way he makes the team this year. The coaches even stressed how raw he was as soon as they picked him, and compared him to McClendon when he came in (who spent several years on the PS).
