I don't know if it's been discussed or not. If it has, then I apologize. Is it possible that Muth knew he couldn't get out of bounds thus allowing time to expire and he fumbled on purpose hoping the ball would roll out of bounds. No forward fumble and even if a ten second runoff occurred there might still be one second left for a field goal attempt?

No I don’t buy that scenario at all. I did see a couple replays though that look like the Lions player may have touched the ball when his foot was out of bounds. If that is correct then we may have gotten screwed badly.

All I know is that even if he doesn't fumble Steelers have a hard time getting up and stopping the clock with 8-9 seconds left.

There was 8 seconds left, so 10 minus 8 is a TIE

thats crap. He was less than 10 feet from being out of bounds. He planted his foot and turned up field into contact. If he had gotten out of bounds there’s no need to spike. He made a rookie mistake. Hopefully he learned from it

Hey now Pat has won us more games us this year than he's tied us....

But what I'm saying if Pat is tackled there, I don't think Steelers have enough time to spike it.

Looking back I guess we should of just tried to kick super long FG and left it at that.

Or would of been nice if Tomlin didn't mis use his earlier OT timeout, when it was really needed.

He screwed up, should have bolted for the sideline. It was a bad play call, though, because even if he did and was tackled short, they don't line up in time to spike it.

Bad situational football, not on the details, not buttoned up, etc. Team has a low football IQ.

He shouldn’t have been thrown the ball. For the 1 yard he got, wasn’t worth it. Either throw to someone on the sideline or throw it away.

Doesn’t excuse the fumble, but still.

Did you learn nothing from the Washington game last year???

You simply take the football back to the bench with you and let the officials call a time-out as they need to get a new ball. Then you get to kick the FG for the Win

Easy as Pie; just ask Alex Smith how it is supposed to be done.

Cut him. Fire the TE coach, Tomlin, and the scout that said we should draft Muth.

Bad decision by Mason to throw it to him, all they needed was a 5 yard out by a WR, then get out of bounds.

I just wish that he threw it to Ebron. He would have dropped the pass stopping the clock and giving us a shot at the FG.
