Stat line.....No picks,No sacks,2 passes defensed,1 fumble recovery{week 17}...Plenty of blown coverages...The steelers pay this guy a lot of money for very little production.Veteran leadership is useless if you don't produce...They need a major improvement in this area in the offseason.Instead of running his mouth constantly he should practice running down opposing recievers!!!...Imagine if we actually had a playmaker at this position ,instead of a slow, out of position loudmouth...sorry if that was a bit harsh

They will address it in the offseason ... I'm not worried about it.

His play is not as good because he is starting to get injured a lot, I think his body is breaking down.

Mitchel hasnt been nearly as bad as he has been made out to be. Usually among team leaders in tackles.

This year dropped off, age catching up with him.

It will be addressed in the draft.

I never thought he was very good and certainly not worth the money and contract he received from the Steelers. He's all talk and no action. Troy, no talk and lots of action.

you all that are not worried, not even against Brady, you not at all worried. We know they will try to do something next season, but come on he stinks, how many times do you have to see his back jersey with a big 23 on it running late to a receiver.

There's nothing they can do about it now. Which makes worrying about it pointless. Brady is going to do what Brady does. We need to worry about our offense and keeping Brady off the field.

Agree there's is nothing they can do now, because Golden is just as bad. The point is saying you not worried about his play is crazy.

Agree, with this secondary, we need to worry about our offense keeping Brady on the sidelines, and against the Jags just play smart.

History shows we are slow to make changes, I'd like to see a change in with the safety's because I don't think whatever they do could be any worse, but I just don't think they will.

What do you suggest? Golden? Wilcox? The coaches put the players on the field that will give them the best chance to win. I know it's not a popular opinion around here, but the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

I've been scratching my head and wondering why they didn't move William Gay over to safety a few games ago. But I agree with you, the coaches know far better than we do who's the best guy for a position.

our defense is going to be 2008 levels in 2 years but ben will likely be gone, cause that's how life works lol.

healthy tuitt, hargrave, aluala, heyward, Watt, jarvis2.0, bince Williams, draft pick or shaz, haden, draft pick, draft pick/FA, burns, Hilton.

I would imagine our draft priorities will be safety and ILB going in to next year. No sense crying about it now. Like it or not Mitchell is still way better than Golden or Wilcox. Hopefully with all the rest Mitchell will be healthier than hes been all year.

He wants Hilton, Gay or Sensabaugh at Safety.
A point might be made for Gay, but Hilton? That's hilarious.

I have to believe this is Mitchell’s last season in Pittsburgh. Depending on Shazier it should be a Safety or ILB in the first.

Apparently the people clamoring for William gay have forgotten how much he has slowed down.

Agreed. He runs his mouth way to much and he gets burnt way to much. We can address this in the draft. Hopefully this draft we’ll take a Safety or CB in the first round. I mean Juju was a phenomenal find but we need pass defense help. Who knows how much longer Ben will play. So we NEED to get some good players for our pass defense either through the draft or free agent.

Why? Because he's small? Even at his size, he's a better tackler than any of their current options at free saefty. I doubt that is a move that could be made at this point in the season, though.

The move should have been experimenting with Gay at free safety in the Cleveland game. He does have some preseason experience there and they clearly didn't care if they won the game or not, so why not try? It's not like more playing time is suddenly going to give Mitchell the speed to get where he is supposed to be on double-teams or teach him to take a decent angle in pursuit.

What do you suggest? We definitely don't have anyone better on the team. Is it too late to get someone off the street?

Gay hasn't been practicing at Safety has he? Maybe some scheme related changes but I don't see Mitchell being on the bench.

First round should the "next one" be long gone or later if the "next one" has been selected.
