Interesting thing to say that he is the best rub blocker on our roster. At the OT position, maybe. I think I put all three of our interior linemen ahead of him, though. Hard to say, though, since it's been awhile time since I've seen much against starters from him. He has the potential. He definitely flashes. But DeCastro and Pouncey are pretty great, and Foster is really underrated. He can really move people.

This was probably my favorite part about that post of yours:
Adams allowed 2.5 ugly sacks and two forced fumbles in one quarter, and that's the best anyone could do? Why aren't WE running a wide 9?! That's like a guaranteed 20 sacks per game!

Because you can gash a wide 9 if you game plan for it ....So I think you missed my point . The point was he played ok IMO considering they did nothing to help him,,,,and yes if you left Tackles open with no help or no play call help you could get 8 or 10 sacks a game .As stated I have played and coached against many wide 9's and the way you beat it is run right inside of it or throw into that alley right behind it, if you just drop back and run a normal offense then yes every tackle to ever have played the game would get torched and torched very bad....

That's why I hate when Teams say we are just going to do what we are going to do and not worry about the other Team...Well that my friend is a recipe for getting the snot kicked out of you ...Some game plans require adjustments based on the style you are playing..A good example would be we are going to run 5 WR sets with deep routes all game against a Team that sends 6 or more on almost every down...

Bold prediction your QB gets rocked......Same as putting your tackle on an island against a wide 9 ,it's really that simple...

Hopefully Adams can get back to playing as well as he did in that game, which is as good as anyone can do. :)

I am more concerned with Cortez Allen than I am Adams....Adams may very well give up a couple of sacks Cortez might give up 250 yards and 4 scores...

I'm starting to think Allen is a mental case. Not that he's crazy... just that it's all in his head. I don't know if it's confidence or what. But he started badly last year. He finished strong, though. Hopefully he turns it around again.

Yeah, cuz you know he's caught 100% of his targets this year lol a 0 yard WR screen, and the nice play in Houston. I'd start AB, Wheaton, and Moore. Bryant with situational snaps and red zone duty. DHB gets whatever is left. People forget he's the 6th WR on the team. The only reason he is even on the active roster is because he plays ST. JB got the nod over him as a receiver.

I just have a feeling DHB will have a impact today .He came on late in camp and late in the pre season.. I still believe the Team has been trying to force Whaeton to be ready and in turn he got most of the reps and plays in practice....IMO I think that has now changed and DHB will get more reps...Also don't forget that DHB has drawn pass interference calls as well ,players are scared of the speed DHB has and they better be ...Because I think all will agree if the dropping thing is in his past DHB is a true weapon that needs to be used....Now is the arrow pointing up or is the arrow pointing down ? My view says up...

I like him too. I was pulling for him to make the team. But I haven't seen him do anything since he got here to suggest he offers as much as Wheaton (or Moore, or Bryant).

You know, once upon a time, we all *****ed about Willie Gay around here. Admit it- this was back in his first tour of duty.

Then he was moved to the nickle, and he redemeed himself. That's what needs to happen with Allen. His hands are pretty good at least, he just gets beat 99% of the time in single coverage.

I haven't seen the game yet. How'd Wheaton and Bryant do? What about DHB and Lance Moore and JB? Did the coaches bench Wheaton for those guys? Is that why we won?

Brown/Wheaton/Bryant were great. Top three for sure moving forward.

DHB fumbled and Moore had like 1 catch.

Yes Wheaton did have a great game as well as all our WR'S .DHB did catch all his looks as well , he made a bone head play trying to do much . But when you look at the sets DHB got a lot of double coverage when he was on the field and helped single up both Bryant , and Wheaton.

Man, I wish Wheaton and Bryant could have played more like DHB. Sounds like he had a great game! Catching every pass that came his way, and in double coverage, and doing SO much, and freeing up other receivers... That guy needs to start.

I get that you like DHB, and you have every right to do so.... But it is pretty hard to defend a stat line that reads 1 target, 1 catch, 16 yards, and a lost fumble. If I were the colts, I would've doubled AB or Bryant instead of DHB lol

Yes, that should be our trio of the future. 2 shifty guys and a big target and all have speed to burn.

Let JB or DHB round out the rotation.

For real he had a man over the top every time he was on the field as far as I could see.... Plus I think he had 2 catches one of which they gave to someone else ? Not 100% sure on that but I thought he had the first catches of the game and they gave it to another player....

My point remains the same ,,,looking at it through a Coaches eyes he helped free up Wheaton, Bryant , and sometimes Miller....It doesn't matter if you like DHB or not ,the facts are he can block, he can run , and it seems as a Steeler he can catch....Teams know his speed and they do adjust to him when he is on the field...

Teams also see the speed of Bryant combined with his size and they adjust to him as well...

To me the way we played and guys being college open had a bunch to do with those 2 guys ....I could care less about the stats....I want to see what makes this Offense click and click at a high rate ....The 2 common factors from my perspective the last 2 games are Bryant and DHB......

Now to eating my crow Wheaton played great he ran good routes ,he caught the ball and looked natural while doing it. He also blocked better than he normally does...I give him a very high grade for his play ,but that takes nothing away from Bryant or DHB and how they effected the way the Colts lined up .

DHB and Bryant could very well be the X factor for this Team....And a last if DHB doesn't show mad stats or help guys win their fantasy Team , then he sucks....Well I just refuse to look at Football that way ,,DHB has earned every snap and IMO he still deserves more ... Bryant has earned every snap as well,, and he deserves more ,,Wheaton had lost favor IMO and had to earn back his playing time and he did so in impressive fashion by far his best all around game as a Pro ..

If you guys want to debate I am more than willing and able.....I hope Cortez will catch some of my swag if not I hope he catches the next smoker to philly.

Debate is what were here for :) otherwise we'd just sit here and read the posts instead of reply to them. I totally agree that Bryant is the X factor for this team. The coaches rode him hard in camp and at the beginning of the season, and it is totally paying off. He has the ability to take the top off the D, as well as be the "jump ball" specialist in the red zone. The potential moving forward for our offense is absurd.

I'm still not on your DHB train tho. I'm not a football coach or X's and O's guy, but I don't see how someone with 3 catches for 33 yards and a fumble lost is making a huge positive difference for our team. IMO, if he was really helping our team out as much as you say he is, there would be a little bit more tangible statistical evidence. The Colts benched him (with Reggie Wayne out for the season) and then chose not to re-sign him to a vet minimum contract when the season was over. I doubt they were scared of him enough to keep a safety over the top every time he was in the games... they probably should've paid more attention to Bryant if that was the case lol. I'm glad he can block and play ST's, and I'm also glad he's caught all 3 balls thrown his way this year. I'm also not pleased that he lost a fumble and almost botched an onside kick. IMO he's the perfect WR5 for this team, and can be good depth in case someone gets hurt. However he hasn't done one thing that would make me feel the need to "have" to have him on the field. He could see 10 snaps or 0 on offense and it really wouldn't make a difference to me.

I never intended to dump on DHB, or Moore, or JB, or anyone. I think they are all valuable. I just think none of them are as valuable as Wheaton, and I also don't think it's close. Bryant, of course, has been the wild card, because he's got more potential than any of them, but who knew how ready he was?

Let's look at the snap counts for this last game.

    Brown 83

    Wheaton 34
    Bryant 33
    DHB 29
    Moore 22
    Archer 1

Those are off, in my opinion. Keeping the numbers the same number of snaps (119 divided among the bottom 5), I'd prefer to go with something closer to:

    Wheaton 45
    Bryant 45
    Moore 15
    Archer 10
    DHB 4

Two days ago, I'd have given 10 of Bryant's to Wheaton, but now I've seen enough to say Bryant's worth the snaps regardless of how well he can run a route or how close to the right one it will be. Once he gets everything down cold, it'll be hard to say he shouldn't be the #2. And with Wheaton as good as he is, it'll be hard not to play 3 receivers all the time. That will be the best set we've had since Brown-Wallace-Sanders, except... this time one of them is big. :smiley1:

Moore I still like, just because he's Lance Moore and can do Lance Moore things. Archer needs to see more field. I don't care if that comes out of the RB's snaps, or WR's or TE's. He just needs to be out there running routes and being a part of the offense. After he does some positive things, he can play more.

DHB... nothing against him, I just see him as a backup. I don't think he's altering defenses as much as you describe. I don't think he's doing it any better than Bryant could do, and maybe even Wheaton (also very fast). And his receiving skills are just not in the same league as those two guys.

Last 2 games the snaps for Bryant and DHB went up and our production has went up ..So I don't think the Team will mess with those snaps ... I will try and break down the games and see how many times teams double DHB ,but I think it's like 70% or so from what I have seen....

Wheaton is fast , but he is not DHB fast , no WR on our Team is ....DHB is even faster than Archer with a 6-2 frame and 215 lbs. or so ... His play on recent tape scared DC'S as he is actually catching Footballs.. They know they have no CB who can run with him...This is why they are actually putting help over the top when DHB enters the game .....This opens up lots of real estate for the rest of the route tree...
