given that Pittsburgh really needs a cb, how much would the steelers give up to get Ramsey or Hargreaves? This is for the case where one of these guys falls out of the top ten or so.

I would give up next years 2nd and 4th round picks, along with this years #1.

You have to consider what future needs you may have. I'm not a contract specialist so I'm not sure what our FA needs may be next season. And since we typically don't utilize FA to reload it is doubtful that we'd give up that many picks.

I'd do that for Ramsey in a heartbeat. I think he's an elite prospect, kind of a hybrid of Patrick Peterson and Eric Berry. Hargreaves is good, but I don't think he's sell-the-farm good. The problem is that I can't see someone in the top 15 making that deal even if the teams in the top 10 have a big enough collective brain fart to allow Ramsey to fall out of the top 10. When other teams look at our 2017 2nd and 4th round picks, they will assume that those picks will be near the end of their respective rounds, and discount them vs. 2nd and 4th rounders from middle of the pack teams. To get up to the fringe of the top 10, I think we'd need to trade our 1st rounder from 2017. Trading future 1st round picks scares me, but Ramsey is really good....

No way. Too many needs to mortgage the future like that. Maybe if we were one impact player away from contending.

No chance ramsey will drop out of of top 10. And i don't see us giving 3 picks to go up.
Even if i think ramsey will be a top corner really soon.

Ramsey falls out of the top 6 only if he is arrested in the next three weeks. Hargreaves probably should be picked in the top 10 but could fall based on team need or measurables (aka, player B is taller and faster, therefore must be a better cornerback).

If he fell to 14 or so I'm pretty sure that we'd start looking at a trade, and I would think that they might sacrifice a third and maybe a third or fourth pick next year for him. I would, anyhow.

Yup, agree. A 2 and 4 for Ramsey would probably mean he falls into the mid-teens and I just don't see that happening. Hargreaves might, but why not stay put at 25 and take the best of what's left? Apple and Jackson are pretty close to Hargreaves. And I don't think our CB spot is in such a bad position as to give away picks to pick up a slightly better guy. Safety, yes.

The Cowboys have Ramsey as their top player in this draft. Nuff said.

Everyone knows how much I complain about the secondary; but I dont want to sacrifice picks to add one elite talent while we have serious needs in other areas that also need addressing. I get the fantasy of adding a stud like Ramsey; who could possibly come in and take control in a T. Polomolu type of way for our secondary. But alas, we cant do it. Hell of a dream thou.

There are always smoke screens about teams' draft boards before the draft. If they actually have Ramsey as their #1 player, they'd be idiots for letting that information get out. Personally, I don't even think he gets to Dallas at 4 anyway.

Your right, this is smoke screen time, but we are talking Cowboys. And stuff for them leaks all the time that is true. Like their fascination with Manziel.
There is no smoke screen for them, if Ramsey is there, they would take him in a heartbeat. So he wouldn't get past number 4.

The first three teams in the draft could be/ can smoke screen; but those idiots in Dallas are not good at playing that game. Lol. Personally, I cant see Ramsey getting past the Chargers considering they let Weddle just walk.

No, I really like Ramsey but that kind of move is way too expensive.

If you think Ramsey is going to be Rod Woodson or Ed Reed....then there is no such thing as to expensive. I am not sure that he is....but if they are...you make the trade.

Hack! Where've you been, man? Who do you like in the draft? You always had good insights on the old board and here in the past. What are you thinking in the first?

    Too rich for us.

I don't think Ramsey is Woodson or Reed. So I don't make that trade.

He may be Patrick Peterson and I'm not sure if I'm ready to mortgage the future for that.

Hell no, Ramsey is good but not worth mortgaging the future for.

I wouldn't want to. I think we may need to make a move like this in 2018 for a QB and wouldn't want any premature draftification.

It's more than a possibility the Browns will draft Ramsey at number 2, if not the chargers will tag him with their 3 spot, this is assuming that none of the top 5 teams in the draft order trade down...

Unless you are willing to give up next year's first rounder, as well as this years (and then some).... you're not getting anywhere near drafting Jalen Ramsey.

I would give it up for Ramsey he is the type of player that you can build a great defense around. As you stated his ability to be a top CB and a top Safety would make for some great schemes that you just couldn't run without a guy like Ramsey. He will not make it out of the top 10 there is really no way possible this is going to happen..

That's right, we aren't so desperate for a corner that we need to trade next years picks away to get one in this draft, what if Ben has a career ending injury (god forbid) and we have to draft a QB in next years draft, without our 1st round pick that would be difficult, don't trade our future away since our needs change year to year, after all we were tied for 6th place in interceptions last year so we need to stay pat in this draft and let the draft come to us without chasing it......
