I think the hype gets ridicules. He gets taken in the end of the third round, some proclaim it a steal (and it might be), shows there is a vast difference between pro and college ball during OTA and mini camp workouts and it's doom and gloom time, lmao. Hell the kids a rookie, they have Muth, and Gentry, all he needs to do is show up, learn, and prove himself as a blocker and a few routes as the season starts. The rest will take care of itself.

No offense, but where's the part on drop passes footage or then mentioning here?

Adlai ice heard several players always mention they need more work. Even WR who are in the top 5.

So what I'm asking for is footage of it. And it shouldn't be hard with how bad they say he was.

Would you practice Jones at RT?

I think Kaboly also said Jones was a loser at OTAs. This got me to thinking would you have Jones be the Swing his rookie year if Dan Moore is better than him to start the season at LT?

I'm deducing tha Kaboly is a clown. He writes for The Athletic? That's the sports version of The National Enquirer.

Yeah he had Washington as training like junk and dropping passes. And a few people in here think it's true.

I gotta say I love this interview video for many reasons. A side of the fact that he answers questions well with full concise explanation of his thoughts, he also comes off as very mature and professional - more than most.

He is walking a perfect line of being humble, seemingly honest in self evaluations, not overly boastful and is expecting to work hard to improve. Talking about staying in town to build chemistry, learn the playbook and enhance his physical athletic playing stamina. Dude has his head on perfectly straight as far as I’m concerned with a pitch perfect perspective and attitude. That is exactly how one lasts in this league. Love it!

What else could we ask for at this point, mentality speaking?

If his play is on this mental maturity level and meets game day expectations, then I think we got a great one here and a massive steal in the round he was drafted.

I was a big time believer in him from the get, but that was just from his measurables and what little tape that I saw; but hearing and watching him speak in the interviews???? I’m even more blown away. So…very…happy…!

I thought it was understood we were talking about his contributions as a receiver. He can make an immediate impact in the redzone but doubt you will see very much of him between the 20’s in his first season.

I expect him to be a much better blocker than receiver and believe that is why he was drafted but even his blocking needs some work. He won’t be going against blocking sleds out there.

But unless they cut Gentry, I’m not sure when his impact will be felt in the ground game. Rookie TE’s have a lot to learn and they won’t have any need to rush him out there.

Honest and level assessment. I am seeing 'catch' headings to posts and vids about Steeler rookies making an immediate impact, it may well happen, but we all need to cinch our panties a bit (for those wearing them) and let these kids learn the pro game. At this point I don't care what level they came from or the flashes of success they had. The speed of the game and talent they will face is far more advanced than anything they have faced. As you stated, his self eval and approach is very encouraging after seeing the past several years of self written media glamour some of these kids embrace.

Again where the proof? When a player has been so bad, there's backing to it.

None of the media has said he has been so bad, some of them have said he needs to be a more consistent route runner, and mentioned the drops. I heard it on two different podcasts, if you don't believe it then oh well .

Word out of camp is that Washington is already way more than JAG throwing a block.

Everybody was jacked up when this kid was drafted. Now the critic section. He is a beast. He will be used on short yardage plays and get a pass thrown at him from time to time. He's a rookie. A plus on special teams as well.

You put two mouthpieces (reporters) in the stands watching the same things and you can get two completely different interpretations of it. There is no proof. It's an opinion based on that individual's interpretation of what they think they watched. I wouldn't get wrapped up in what reporters blurt out, especially when it varies significantly. Truth and reality are not until game day and then let the fans decide on what they see. Even then, people will believe what they want to believe. JMO>

That's all true. People really need to stop getting overly excited about reports from training camp. Remember last year, when we got daily passing statistics for Pickett, Trubisky, and Rudolph. People are still whining about Rudolph not getting to start after looking better during the first couple of weeks of camp. Never mind that he knew the system and many of the receivers better because he was the only one who was with the team the previous season. Also, it is football in shorts, which is perfect for a guy like Rudolph.
