I'm a life long gamer myself and I'm 33 but when it comes to fighting I'm all Street Fighter. I loved MK as a kid though. When MK2 came out the first place to have it around here was a Wal Mart and they had an arcade machine of it. My buddy's mom took 3 of us to Wal Mart to play it and that night we spent $28 in quarters. LOL. I've always loved Street Fighter as well but as I've gotten older I've just went exclusively to SF. I also love Smash Brothers because I'm a lifelong Nintendo fan as well. Soul Calibur 2 is my favorite of that series on Gamecube because you could be Link. I'm kinda ticked that SF5 is a PS4 exclusive. I have a PS4 but I prefer to do my online gaming through Xbox Live instead of PSN. Now that Bloodborne has come out I've only been playing my PS4 because I'm a die hard, to the extreme, Dark Souls fan and I just can't get enough. I do know that today they actually announced that Raiden is gonna have a new costume on day one as well.

I wish I was any good at fighting games. But I suck something awful. I was pretty good back in the day of Street Fighter 2 and the original Mortal Combat. But not anymore. Way too many intricate combos and timing combos for my ability or even memory.

I have Injustice for the PS4. I get my a$$ handed to me by my daughter's boyfriend and my nephews.

I'm having enough fun with GTA for the time being.

    Shame. MC does look great.

It's "K"ombat! Get it right Ray! LOL! I'm ok at fighting games. I had a pretty good win-loss on SF4 and I did pretty good at Soul Calibur 4 also but man the old school Soul Calibur fans would get SO mad at me because I only got the game to play as Yoda and he was so dang quick and could grab that people would just go OFF when they saw that he was being picked. LOL. Smash Bros is really fun because all the move configurations are the same for every character. So you really only have to learn one moveset but there are tons of ways to mix them up and so many nuances to all the characters that it doesn't feel like you're playing with the same character all the time.

Yeah that Battlecat is more than likely gonna turn out to just be fan art. It would be awesome if he did look like that though. I'm a huge Masters of the Universe fan(obviously LOL) and still collect them and TMNT and Ghostbuster. I still have the original MOTU movie on dvd. Man it was horrible. LOL. I loved the MK movie. It was definitely better than the SF one! I mean how in the crap can they make Jean Claude Van Damme Guile?? And Raul Julia was a phenomenal actor but WHY would he be M. Bison??? They just can't seem to make a good video game movie for whatever reason. I mean the first Resident Evil is ok and Silent Hill is one of my favorite franchises of all time but even that movie didn't turn out too good. I will tel you something hilarious about the first Mortal Kombat though. I had it on Genesis and to get to Reptile you had to have a double flawless fatality on The Pit and I had JUST done it and I was at my mamaw and papaw's and the phone rang and as I was answering it I pulled off the requirement and Reptile showed up and my papaw's buddy was asking if he was there and I just starting going "YES!!!! YES!!! I DID IT!!!! YES!!!" and just threw the phone down and fought Reptile for the first time! LOL!!!! I then picked it back up and he was still there and I was like "Hang on. I'll go get him." LOL!!!! Ahhh to be 10 again...

Haven't seen anything about the new MK. I might have to check it out.

I remember back in 94 when I worked at the mall I used to go to the arcade on my break and play the original MK. I got really good at using Kano and Scorpion. Most times I'd be playing through the story mode and someone would jump in. I'd usually only spend a quarter for my entire half hour. lol

I was one of those people that would string together the endless spear-teleport-spear combo with Scorpion. Once I got you with that you might as well give up trying. Yes, I was a bastard. :lolol:

Freakin' Spammer man! You guys are the original campers! LOL! The WORST thing that people would do on the original though was back you in to the corner and footsweep while you blocked and do chip damage until you died. I still get mad thinking about that. LOL.

Can't tell you how many times me and my buddy headed to the bowling alley or pizza joint to play that game, countless hours and thousands of quarters.

    That game was epic.

MK2 had babalities, friendships, and animalities. MKX actually has an automatic fatality feature for people who quit online matches. Their head explodes. LOL.

Yeah when Johnny Cage would do a Friendship he would sign an autograph for you and if you did a babality Baraka would just turn in to a little baby and start playing with rattles and stuff. The reason for it was because Ed Boone and John Tobias put it in there for spite since the first game was the first to draw major media and even gvt attention for all the violence. It was like a smarty pants thing to do. Hideo Kojima always puts a tranq gun in Metal Gear so you can play through the whole game without killing anybody. It's just kind of a joke against all the mamby pamby bleeding hearts that love to act like they hate violence but they put every action movie star on a pedestal in spite of the fact that they always are heavily armed and violent in their movies.

I was a huge MK fan when the very first one came out (when I was in college). I have very clear memories of first seeing it in Electronic Gaming Monthly and then driving around with a friend until we found one in an arcade. The closest one was 30 minutes away at a mall and we went every weekend just to play.

Then I started posting in the old Internet user/reader newsgroup called. alt.games.mk (or something like that). There were tons of fan stories posted and a lot of info on strategies and things like then. Them MKII came out and it was just amazing, and the newsgroup was a really fun place to share special move combinations as they were discovered.

I haven't played much MK since MK3, but I've been keeping an eye on this new one, and it looks pretty amazing.

I am a DIE HARD EGM fan. One of the saddest days of my life was when EGM announced they were closing. It was actually on my birthday that they announced that. I have TONS of EGM's going back years. I've actually had a letter published in one and that's one of the greatest moments of my gaming career. I still have an EGM from when MK2 came out and it has every fatality for every character in it. Fighting games were all the rage in the mid 90s.

I've still got quite a few issues, too. My favorite, however, was the one that had the first announcement of the first Mortal Kombat along with a list of fatalities and moves. I don't have that one anymore, but I wish I did.

LOL! I appreciate it. I'll tell you something hilarious. One of my best buddies writes his own web comic and prints it as well to sell at conventions and he has tried to get a publisher for years and hasn't been able to so for a long time I only referred to myself as a "published writer" when I was around him. LOL!!! I can troll like a maniac when I want to! I've actually been in a gaming magazine twice in my life. The other time was for tying for 10th place in a world wide Speed Run tourney of Metal Gear Solid 2. I beat it in 96min and my time tied for 10th best in the world but I actually "placed" 12th because I killed a few more people than the other two that I tied with. I still have that magazine too. It was a Tips and Tricks Magazine tourney. I could've done better but, at the time, the best time in the world on the internet was 96min so I figured as long as I just equaled that I wold have a good shot at winning. The guy that did win beat me by like 4 or 5 minutes. It was really luck of the draw on a moveset from a boss ultimately that made the difference. Still I felt really cool getting my name published and representing East TN nerds. LOL!

That's good to hear. I might pick up a copy this weekend. Tekken 3 was our "house game" in college. Spent way way way too much time on it. Each roommate (had 5 of them) was a character that they stuck to to master and perfect. Mine was Jin Kazama. When there was ever an argument over something we would take it to Tekken and settle it. Surprisingly, that worked out pretty well. "Who had dibs on that girl? Let's fight for it!"
