There was a lot of people who thought his most recent contract was bad because there was a slim chance Heyward would have the season he had this year. He continues to defy the odds. His longevity in the NFL will run out at some point, but I don't expect it will be next season.

But I would agree that we could/should sign and draft DL. Get a solid DT in FA, consider moving Benton to Larry's spot, and start scouting late Day 2 and Early Day 3 DL prospects.

    Rd3- Alfred Collins DT Texas

Rd4- Jaxson Dart QB Ole Miss

I don't know if it goes 5,7,7 or 7,7,7 from here.

I disagree a bit Scouting only Day 2 and 3 Prospects on the IDL. If there is a blue chip at 21, take his ass. At this point I doubt it will be Kenneth Grant but Walter Nolen, Tyliek Williams, Derrick Harmon or even Shemar Stewart would be rock solid options.

I do agree though that this team needs to double, if not triple dip, into the IDL position as they did with the Offensive Line a season ago. Start with a IDL in Round One as stated before but work your way towards nabbing another great IDL in Rounds 3 to 5. Nab a major project in Rounds 5 or trade back into 6 if one is available.

As I say all of this regarding IDL, AR II greatly emphasized WR as well. I expect the team to both nab one in FA then draft one high; likely Round 2.

Sign Darius Slayton in FA and draft one within rounds 1-3.

If they do DL in the 1st, I'd love to get him or TJ Sanders as potential Cam replacements. They have a little ways to go. Gotta get stronger and develop, hopefully with Cams help. I'd love to get those guys in the 2nd but they probably won't fall that far. Their athleticism alone is so enticing.

That being said, a big DT is the need. Grant will probably be gone. If you look at the Steelers type, Harmon looks like a prime candidate. I don't think Nolan has the length they like.

It sounds like Art ll is concerned about the team stopping the run.

Of course he is going to say that... we gave up 300 yards rushing in the last game of the season. Even in our losing streak (Last 5) only the two Ravens game did we get run on (we even held the Eagles well under their season average).

We certainly want to stop the run, that much is obvious. However, our current front 7 did a really good job of it during the year. They had their worst performance of the season in the postseason, which is something that happens all too often under Mike Tomlin. To me, its more an indictment on the coaching staff than it is the personnel. They proved during the season that they are a top 5 unit against the run. We had a pretty inexplicable game plan that essentially allowed Lamar to run all over us. We made an adjustment and then let Henry score a long one on us while we were attempting to come back. Too little too late.

They need some young ass kickers on the DL.
