I truly believe that this will be a defense heavy draft, but if the best left tackle in the draft is available at 15 the Steelers better freaking take him.

I think it will be fairly balanced personally. They damn well better take him if he's there. In the simulator, I had already ran a couple and took both he and Robinson. I was just listing who was still available to show how unreal the simulator can be. Watkins was available at 15, with Matthews, Robinson, Barr, Mosely, Evans et al still available.

My original thinking was that it would be fairly balanced and hoped they would address needs at TE, WR, and OL. However, the more I think about it defense should really be a priority. They're way too thin at OLB, ILB and have major needs at CB and S. It also wouldn't hurt to add a 3-4 defensive end in this years draft.

I don't think we have a major need at ILB if garvin and Williams add to their rookie years. I'm hoping they improve in year two anyway. I think we may see an UDFA or two brought in or a guy that can play inside or out drafted.

cb is a lot deeper then most think this year in the draft too. there are also a couple of guys that are very capable of playing both safety and corner in our system. I hope they target a couple of them. if so the need of both a safety and a cb will be diminished some. they are still highly productive DB's at either spot. (McGill and huff) are the two I like in this role. there are some mid to later round gems as ball hawks there to be had also. this is good for us this year.

te is also deeper then it initially looks.

OLB is a pretty talented and deep position too in this draft.

OL if your gonna take one this year, the cream is at the top. not real deep with a lot of guys that won't need some work.

wr is also deeper than it appears.

some of these positions won't have to be jumped on quite as early as a lot of people think. there is some talent mid level and later even as UDFA possibilities this year at certain positions we could use. I hope they load up too.

at least this is what I'm seeing with this years draft prospects. this could be a good future's draft for us and depth. I hope our front office and scouts are up to the task this year.
