One problem with Hilton blitzing was that we’d become somewhat predictable with it. Maybe the personnel shakeup will actually help...

Very good point cause after they pointed that out Monday night you know everyone will be looking for it now. Now maybe Moats/VW blitzes more and Hilton stays in coverage which like you say will give a different look.

I’m sure Marvin Lewis wasn’t listening to the broadcast, but it seemed like the Bengals adjusted to it in the second half.

They have definitely gotten predictable with all the corner blitzes. The secondary doesn't rotate to cover it well enough, which leads to big gains to tight ends and slot receivers.

I'm not sure Moats blitzing is that big of a boost. He's a decent pass rusher, but not as quick to the quarterback as Shazier.

Agree. Moats will be disciplined vs. the run, and won’t overrun his gaps. He won’t make game changing plays, and will be a huge liability in coverage, but he should help clog up running lanes.

Yeah time to reel them db's shooting in a hair... Didn't need a broadcast to point it out, if we see it it's already in the other teams film book notes. Need to mix some stuff up to cover weaknesses and get the opponents breaking out their thinking caps some. The lack of creativity and boost in predictability has been around these necks of the woods for awhile. I truly believe it's an Achilles heel with our team.

Whatever's working has been working, but truth is... Jamming square pegs into round holes don't work very well unless you got some nice machinery to help manipulate the moving part and we've lost some of them tools. We got that execution rules the day attitude here but it's easier for the other team to execute their plan when they have a pretty good idea of what's coming. Creativity can be executed too... Time to start brainstorming.

He's better than 44 is. He will do his job and he will play with passion, and for 60 minutes. He's going to raise his level of play, just as every Steeler has, ever since the injury to Shazier: The Steelers outscored the Bengals in the second half, 20-3, and the level of play on defense raised up with 44 on the sideline.

That was not what I was trying to say, I did not know Hilton lead the league in blitzes from the CB spot. I knew he blitzed a lot but the broadcast did point that out. Yes I do realize that football teams are way ahead of the broadcasters(miles) and known what other teams are doing.....:smiley1:

Well by Moats/VW doing more blitzing and Hilton doing more covering that will help our coverage with the loss of Ryan. I mean I feel we are stronger in coverage with Hilton than Moats, I am not saying I want to see these guys blitz I am just talking instead of Hilton coming off the outside Blitz Moats or VW. Like I said before the other teams know( thanks to the broadcast ) that Hilton comes off the edge more than anyone so that will give a different look. Which imo no one is thinking about, we haven't played without RS so a different look has to be coming cause he was suck a big part of the game plan. jmo

Just one thing and I am done responding to all the BS you are spilling on here about TM....or as you say 44. Just what are you basing your deep hatred on, on the small sample we saw Monday night? If so that is fine cause NOBODY was doing anything to help out, watch the game again and watch TM 7 yards deep....why was the runner even getting to him......I'll wait. I by no means am gonna sit here and say TM played good cause he didn't but he does not deserve the deep hatred you KEEP giving him here.

The kid is no where in the same league as RS but he is a ST stud and a decent back up. I hope he comes back to play and you can see why the Steelers drafted him. A 7th round pick not bad, a 4 year starter over 400 tackles. Not the fastest but a very smart player/leader and given some time to step in instead of just thrown into the fire I feel we will see a different result......oh and maybe a little help around him as well.

How come you aren't killing Coty Sensabaugh cause once they benched him that was where the change really happened in this D. And all the penalty help from the Bungals.........

To my eyes, TM 44 was involved in a lot of tackles. Maybe not the primary and so doesn’t show up on stat sheet. The turning point in the game was not because TM 44 left with an injury.

Dirty Red has Steeler written all over him and I hope we see the potential down the road. Hate that it has to be this way thought, still praying for Shazier.........:beg:
