MNF Announcers were Dreadful

What is even worse about Riddick is that he seems to have a voice immodulation disorder. Everytime he talks I have to adjust my volume. The guy has a rare combination of intensity and nothing important to say.

 

I am also in the Collinsworth camp with you. It may just be the two of us though...lol

 

Agree on announcers. Joe Theisman and Dennis Miller would have been a vast improvement.

Exhibit B: James Pierre, Superstar

 

I turn the sound down. It is the frigging commercial breaks that drive me crazy especially during a night game.

Forget the MNF announcers for a moment. They suck. That is a given as we know.

I did not see the game. So, I am checking the typical sports’ outlets (ESPN and NFL Channel) for highlights after the game. All highlight coverages STARTED at the point where the Steelers were winning 14-3. EVERY ONE! I had to go online to see the highlights of those first two touchdowns.

In addition, and again, I had to go to the computer to see the big hit by James Pierre who forced a key fumble late in the game on the kick-off AND Chris Boswell recovers as gain, this play was not on the tv highlights mentioned above.

That was pitiful. Very poor highlight coverage.

The big storylines on the ESPN, and the NFL Channel, were the talking heads, jock-slobbing all over Justin Fields and how he emerged as a “star’ after his performance. The equally time-consuming, constant story line that was driven into the ground, was the “taunting” penalty on Cassius Marsh. Over and Over these were the game’s headliners/tv highlights. Absolutely horrible. Downright pathetic.

I have seen this many times in the past with Steelers’ highlights. Often. starting them in the second half and sometimes only in the fourth quarter. I have seen this enough over the years to sense “hate”, maybe “bias”. Again, downright pathetic!

Sometimes when I listen to Hilgrove, I wonder if the game he’s calling is in the same stadium as the game I’m watching.

I have seen this "non-sense" enough over the past few years from ESPN and the NFL Channel. I know it may seem a little ticky-tacky but that is in part why I feel like I am wasting good money for cable TV. Horrible programming at times. How can they start the highlights from the second half on. It is ridiculous. Without the Internet (World Wide Web, smile) where would I have gone to see these highlights? it is complete trash. This is why more and more I just Google the highlights from the game. I usually get everything that I am looking for there.

The Steelers used to get quite a bit of love from some analysts when Ben was a rookie and even up until a few years ago. Personally, I have witnessed the "tail-off" of coverage over the years. Again, the coverage was dominated by Justin Fields and Cassius Marsh and the idiot analysts over-analyzing how the referee "hip-checked" Marsh to somehow "draw" him into the flag being thrown. Ridiculous. Let's get to the scoring drives and splash plays that the Steelers made. Hello. We did win the game. It sure would have been nice to have seen all of how we did it.

We're obviously biased. Could you imagine if Hilgrove and Myron were ever national sportscasters? Lol. People would be complaining nationwide and they would have never made it.

Nance used to irk the hell out of me with his Patriots fan-boy crap. He's not as bad now.

 

Collinsworth has never gotten over never winning a SB even when Pitt was floundering in post dynasty hell in the 80s, the teams he was part of always came up short. No matter how good of a WR he was, it didn't amount to squat. I can't even stand his voice. Sounds like he is apologizing every time he speaks and he clearly is a Homer who hates the steelers.
