Just heard on 93.7 The Fan that Mike Wallace was spotted in Miami hanging out with Chad Ochocinco and BenJarvus Green-Ellis. I know this isn't a clear indication of anything as I am sure NFL players have friends all over the league but it has been speculated alot that the Patriots would be a prime candidate to take Wallace with the 1st round tender. I don't want to lose Wallace and definitely not to the Patriots... Look what Brady was able to to with Randy Moss... thinking about that with a faster Wallace is just scary. Not to mention how much room having Wallace stretching the field would give Welker. If they do take Wallace we better use that 1st round pick on a CB. Any thoughts?

Wallace is not yet in Moss's league as WR. Randy had speed, size, and leaping....Randy always caught the ball at its highest point, and was still productive no matter what the coverages were....He simply could not be taken away like Wallace has been.

Wallace and Brown could be Moss and Welker like....one stretches the field, and one is the scrappy underneath guy.....but Wallace disappeared to easy last season.....was it him or the playcalling? who knows.

Green-Ellis went to Ole Miss I think with Mike so they probally are friends being college teamates and all so I dont think there is anything to read into this. I do alot of reading of the message boards here and the penguins and Mike Wallace threads are becoming like the Sid comback threads for the last 14 months. Wallace was seen wearing a green shirt and yellow hat... Hes going to GB. He is a fast WR and he does open the field up for everyone else but do I think the Steelers implode on offense without him NO are they better with him YES. But they cant break the bank to keep him and I dont think they will.

The fact ALONE that he was seen with ochostinko makes me cringe. Let's see, I'm a young WR on my way up and I could associate with, most, anyone I want...I think I'll pick Chad. He seems like he has his head on straight and his act together. That's like Big Ben choosing to hang out in Vegas or Georgia...wait, never mind. That is like the President hanging out with Kim Jong-Il.

The pats arent paying big money for 2 wrs plus giving up a pick. They have much bigger needs then wr they need those pucks to try and sure up their defense.

I think they'll come after him for a number of reasons:
    - their biggest weapon is their passing game and that game is missing 1 key ingredient - a legitimate deep threat
    - they have cash and draft picks coming out of their ears
    - it would simultaneously help them and hurt one of their biggest AFC competitors

I know what you are saying Jim, but the Nevada incident wasn't in Vegas, it was up at Lake Tahoe. And as far as Georgia is concerned, Ben has a home there - somewhere near Bruce Arian's place. Milledgeville is not exactly a hotbed of party activity - not sure what the big attraction is for Rottenbooger there.

The big thing is that he's the biggest thing there whenever he's in town. Which is why the "I didn't know who he was" statement is BS.

ok heres the thing the pats on the hook for nine plus with welker and from what i have been reading the steelers can go up to about 7 mil on wallace. Also its going to take a roster bonus to get him we can work with a signing bonus but a roster bonus would kill us. so lets say he gets 8 mill plus a 15 mil bonus him and welker would combine for over 30 mil this year. thats just bidding against us thats not throwing in other teams. teams arent giving up that much money plus a pick for wallace

Add to all. Many receivers hang out in the off season in Orlando to work out together. I just hope Holmes doesn't get Mike smoking left handed cigarettes like him

Yeah didnt brown work out with TO last year. I think brown maybe becoming my favorite steeler. I love a dude with a great work ethic and from what i heard he has a work ethic of jerry rice. Im not saying he is rice or ever will be but the similarities between the two are pretty cool.

I have no problem with Wallace hanging out with Chad. Chad's offseason workouts are probably closer to Rice's than any other WR in the league. He works harder to improve his craft than most and takes pride in that. I sure hope that rubs off on Wallace.

Yes, his sideline antics and endzone celebrations have given him a reputation but honestly, when the ball is snapped he is one of the best WRs in the NFL ( top 10 ). He is getting older and slower but still a valuable WR weapon which puzzles me why NE didn't use him more. They wasted him this year.

I seriously doubt Wallace is going anywhere including NE but anything is possible. NE doesn't need Offensive Help so why would they give up a 1st rd pick for a WR when they need defensive help and there is also plenty of UFA WRs who can be had and they have cap space for them.
They could get Wallace to add that weapon now and groom for the future #1 WR spot, hurt their AFC rival and use the rest of their draft for defense but who really knows, I just don't think its gonna happen.

If it does happen we will be okay. First off we can't keep Wallace/Brown/Sanders/Cotchery past this upcoming season-too much money- so if we must lose one lets get a 1st rd pick for him. Second, while its really nice to have that over the top Speed it does NOT mean we lose without it. Added to that he has the speed but not the GREAT Hands like Moss. Moss had the Great hands, height and jumping ability and would fight for the ball, all things missing from Wallace's game.

Cajun - I think you give Ochonoshow way too much credit here.
The guy was lambasted by his own coaching staff and benched because he simply sat in the back of the film room during training camp with the Bungles, laid his head down and purposely fell asleep.
Carson Palmer could not get Chads ego in check long enough for him to stop running the wrong routes.
We all saw how much faith Bill Belicheck had in him over the past season that he hardly ever saw the field and when he did he still ran the lazy and/or wrong route.
I agree Chad was great early in his career but lately he is just a fraction of that and the only thing that really keeps him going are his own egotistical social media stunts.
One thing I do credit him with though is that he has never really gotten more than a speeding ticket on a team surrounded by criminals.

I'm sorry I have given that impression. I like chad's work ethic towards his craft. I think when he wants to be he can be a top WR. I don't like chad's ego, he's a bit of a ham and comedian. I also think he's a bit of a baby pouting about how he wanted out of cincy and he let that affect his on field play. The part of his work ethic I liked was his offseason workouts.

Hopefully Wallace learns from his offseason workout regimants and learns from Chads downfall from grace.

I don't think NE shares your assessment of Chad's talent.

I wouldn't say Moss had great hands. He had the ability to make great catches, but he also dropped way too many. It was a pendulum that swung both ways. People think Wallace has bad hands, but he had something like the 13th best drop ratio in the league this year. I forget the exact number, but he was in like the top 15 percentile among all receivers that qualified. And he's made some great catches, too. For some reason people only remember the drops.

HugeSnack, I must watch the Steelers only through Black/Gold colored glasses because I have watched Wallace make some catches that, when I saw them, I doubted a lot of the receivers around the league could have/would have made. People either didn't see these catches, forgot about them or I, like I said, I am watching them with a bit of bias. I didn't think I was bias when it came to a good catch (I will give credit to any receiver that makes a great catch) but to listen to folk on here I must be. I realize he wasn't putting up the numbers from one half of the season to the other. I don't know exactly why, could be a number of reasons, but I don't think that should distract from what he has done.

Agree. Debating if he is worth $50 million is totally valid. But all the talk about him not being able to catch, being unwilling to fight for the ball... it's fabricated. It just appears out of thin air. People believe what they want to believe, even if something is in black and white.

I'm starting to question your evaluation of players. We disagree on Timmons and others and thats ok, we all have opinions but you can't be serious and say Moss did NOT have Great hands and dropped way too many balls.

Forget about 2010 for a minute when he was on a bad team. It was obvious his heart wasn't in it anymore.

When Moss was a rookie, no, take his 1st ten years in the league, can you name any WR better on the field than Moss? I don't think I've ever seen him drop a pass. Not a strip or jarred loose from a hit but a drop. I really didn't like Moss but man was he an incredible athlete an awesome WR. Also, I'm not saying Wallace has bad hands, in fact Wallace has good hands but he has a way to go in order to be considered in the same class as Moss when it comes to Hands, jumping or fighting for the ball and winning. I like Wallace but I'll be surprised if some-one gives up a 1st rd pick for him.

Do you have a link where we can see drop ratios for WRs? That would be interesting to go thru and look at.
