As I said, I'm not saying it was racist, the word i'd probably use for it would be idiotic, just that it didn't seem "strictly football" as you stated.

Let me get this out of the way before I say anything else:: I'm not racist!!! It just so happens that I hate Tomlins face- and I would hate it if it was white, purple, blue, whatever!! You really need me to explain why I hate his face?? Have you watched a Steelers game lately?
First, I don't like how smug & arrogant he can be. Did you see him pounding on his chest like an idiot after we won? Then there's the piece of crap he brought in- Michael Vick. (That has nothing to do with skin color either.) If Vick wouldn't have gotten hurt, Tomlin would've kept him in that game and we would've lost it. I don't like Vick as a person but I was willing to give him a chance as a football player. But it turns out there's nothing good about his play either. (-6) passing yards is pathetic. I don't care how much of the playbook he knows or how long he's been here. He can't complete a simple pass- yet Tomlin keeps him in. I know a lot of people won't agree- but I don't like the call at the end of the Chargers game. It was risky and stupid. Then there's the Ravens game. The play calling was a joke. I know it's hard without a kicker- but that was the time to give the ball to Bell. No, he puts the game in his buddies hands- and he FAILED. We should've won that game. Tomlin talks about how he puts the guys on the field that gives us the best chance to win. That's OBVIOUSLY a lie.
I don't think Butler was the biggest reason we got rid of LeBeau. With LeBeau, Tomlin had no say in the defense. Now he can do what he wants with the D & he does. I don't like what we did to Hines, Ryan Clark, Troy, Keisel, & Larry Foote either. They were loyal to us and gave us everything. We couldn't have given them one more year out of respect? So they lost a step. They weren't terrible- and they could only help the younger players. I know that's not all Tomlins decision- but under Cowher, they would've gotten one more year.
As far as Tomlin & his Super Bowl, HE did NOT win that Super Bowl. He came into a team that was already awesome. Cowher built that team. There's a chance if Cowher would've stayed, we may have won back to back- possibly to back. Who knows? So Tomlin has nothing at all to be arrogant about.
I could go on and on and ON! But I think that's good enough.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Really put this thread up here for one reason, that Landry will be starting. That's it.

Hopefully we can get back on track with this thread...

Personally, I'm going to enjoy rooting for Landry Jones. I hope he plays lights out on Sunday. I don't expect him to look as sharp as he did last Sunday, but I hope he crushes it.

Yeah, me too. I thought he was useless and taking up a roster spot better used on depth elsewhere, but obviously (can I still use that word in this thread?) he proved me wrong. Yeah it was only one half of play, but I never expected him to look so poised out on that field, and that was my only, albeit big, complaint about him.

He's the shiny new car in the driveway and I'm busting at the seams to take it for a drive. Let's see what he can do for a full 4 with the #1's. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Matthew Stafford line from him: 300+ yards with 3 TD's and 3 INT's. But good, aggressive INT's.

I'm excited about seeing him play again. The best thing is that he had all the confidence in the world after going in and beating the Cardinals. I don't expect perfection... But he should be able to win this game. He has to realize that this is his opportunity & he needs to make the most of it. Hopefully he'll make the most out of it by throwing 4 touchdowns & maybe 1 pick- beating the Chiefs.
The only thing I worry about is the crowd noise.

I cannot read her mind but perhaps she " hates him " because of what he did and not who he is?

Whether you're a racist or not, you clearly have a personal problem with Tomlin that comes across as irrational. I say it's irrational because you don't know him personally. Your criticisms aren't even rooted in logic because you don't take the most important thing into account which is RESULTS. Lol at criticizing Tomlin for a decision that resulted in the team winning the game. Lol at saying "I'd hate Tomlin even if he lead the team to 16-0 and 2 SBs" while considering yourself a true fan. I can see why someone might jump to the "you're a racist" conclusion after reading your posts. Shame on the posters passive aggressively defending you too.

As a lifelong diehard fan who just stumbled across this site surfing the net for Steeler info, I signed up just to post this.

    Welcome to the board.

Shes entitled to feel that way though. I dont agree with all of it but certainly some of it. No shame in anyone defending her, her remarks were not racist in the least and hope this is the last time it is brought up.

Dude I am biting my tongue SO hard right now. All I'm gonna say is you are correct in every single thing you just said and I really can not stress how strongly I agree with you. Oh man if only I could say what is really on my mind... The whole internet might literally blow up. LOL!

    Thanks for the welcome.

I didn't say that she wasn't entitled to her feelings. I'm not in her head or heart and don't know her personally, so I can't say that she's a racist. Her comments were irrationally hateful though. I'd question any so called Steeler fan who defends someone who says that they would hate Tomlin even if he performed his job to perfection(undefeated reg season SB champ). That kind of hate for Tomlin may not be rooted in racism but whatever it's rooted in is certainly irrational. There's shame in defending irrational hate.

Strong words can paint a picture, but they don't define the original intent of the images view. Tomlin has done good and bad... And a lot of idiotic stuff since at the end of the day he's the man and has to own the fact he didn't prep better, second guess certain things or rammed the non working obvious down our throats. Good or bad he's the thumbprint next to the signature on all of it. May not be fair to him in some scenarios and more than fair in others. I don't question a passionate fans view on any of it. If anyone of us were racist we'd be watching something and someone else period.

A pot calling a kettle a kettle isn't racist, and I too am sick of this crap every time there's a disagreement to be had.

Tomlin is a good enough coach... Wish he held more people accountable and quit playing faves one way or the other. Funny thing is, we all called Cowher out for Some of the same... And every team and its legion boasts the same.

Wasn't racist irrational or not... Just passionate

Seriously? Talk about irrational. What do I care if someone does or doest like Tomlin. Has nothing to do with my fandom.

Im only defending her right to say it. There are service members on this board who literally have defended that right.

He would never "question" her fandom but then uses the phrase "so called". Mk... I'm just glad he only signed up to post "just that one thing". One can hope...

Lol her right was never threatened so there's no need to defend it. The person who interpreted her comments as racist has just as much right to say what they said as she does. This had nothing to do with rights. That's a deflection.
I said nothing about not questioning her fandom. In fact, I clearly questioned her fandom based on her irrationally hateful comments. Clearly reading and comprehension aren't strong suits of yours. I advise you to drop the passive aggression until you tighten those skills.

Often times hate seems to blind a persons judgement and ability to think rationally. That post seems to go way beyond hate. It seems there is a psych issue there.

No point in going round and round with the argument.

Sometimes we have to agree to disagree. Or agree that we agree on the points but disagree on the conclusion. Or agree that we disagree even though we agree on a couple things. Or disagree with a premise even if we agree that we disagree with a statement made by a 3rd party. Or...

    Wait... what was I saying?

Bottom line: people come at certain ideas from different perspectives. If you don't share the fundamental perspective they're coming from, it's hard to see why they think the way they do. You could agree on every fact, but still come to different conclusions.

We're now arguing about a person's argument? Why? It's just going to spin in circles ad infinitum.

I hate Ryan Reynolds. No reason. I just don't like his smug face. I refuse to watch any movie he's in. Rational? Who cares? I'm sure he doesn't.
