Many complain about Tomlin. For good reason. What would it take ( Just a question, not advocating it) to be terminated? Playoff loss? Failure to make playoffs?

For me, realistically speaking, at least 4 straight years of sub 500 football.

I complain a lot and he does have his faults but he also has a very good resume.

I don't like the teams that change everything every couple of years just to appease the fan base.

Exactly why do we need another thread on this? Doesn't it belong with one of the other 47 identical threads?

I can't imagine even the Rooney's putting up with four straight sub par years. Especially with a QB the caliber of Ben.

I guess you couldn't fit this topic in the other Tomlin threads

With Tomlins resume they would. You're not going to come across many other NFL caliber coaches that would have you believe they could achieve anything better at this moment. Anyone that you hire to replace him wouldn't be much better, at least on paper anyways.

11-5 division title in 2014, 10-6 and backed into WC last year. If they miss the playoffs this year and the defense doesn't improve, safe to say "arrow pointing down".

Maybe give him one more year after that.

His resume ain't so hot once you-know-who's players all started retiring.

This 2nd half of the season is big for him, IMO. Make a deep playoff run, he's safe. Bottom out and miss the playoffs, he should be on the hot seat.

Of course if that happens, he won't be, and you are probably right that the Rooneys would be willing to throw away the 2nd half of Ben's career for the sake of "stability".

The tale of the tape will be after Ben retires. Then we will see how he fares and who will lead this team as QB.
I appreciate the Rooney's for stability and not the flavor of the moment. But I also understand the concern.
A couple more years of little to no post season and then his @ss should get hot because the shelf life of Ben is getting shorter...

It would take several consecutive seasons finishing sub-.500 for him to be at a risk of losing his job.

If the Steelers beat the Ravens on Sunday, there won't be one thread about Tomlin. After a loss though the trolls come out in full force

Hard to say. Chuck Noll was allowed to languish in mediocrity and sometimes worse for a decade. We'll have to wait and see if Art II is as patient as his predecessors.

If RealSteel thinks Tomlin should be terminated then that is enough for me

Ben won't be here for the 2020 season, so I think Tomlin will hang them up then too.
