Yeah but it's better than nothing. I'm just feeling a lot better about our team by watching this Pats-Jets drop fest. Tom Brady is gonna blow a gasket before it's all said and done. They're missing Gronk BAD. I think they might go bail Hernandez out tonight. LOL.

I will say that Geno looks like he might have a cannon. He has been launching that thing all night. He has made some costly mistakes though.

I don't think TTF will let me post those kind of image results :hehehe:

Although he probably wouldn't mind if I sent them to him in a PM but Mrs TTF might.

Right on the money, there is a new SHERRIF in town, that is not afraid to make changes if he deems them necessary, May I also add that The Emperor FORGOT MORE ABOUT FOOTBALL THAN COWHER OR TOMLIN WILL EVER KNOW.

Yeah, I was beginning to doubt my own memory for a moment there. The 80s were a trial, but we did still turn out competitive teams, and had some brilliant individuals.

I think you're completely right with 1. It's a different situation. Comparisons are near impossible.
At the same time, there's an issue here with "he won with Cowher's players."

I'm thinking about it this way:

If Tomlin didn't take us to a superbowl with that team, then he would be judged a bad HC.
But when Tomlin did take us to a superbowl, it is because of the players he already had on the team.

Ok, fine. This means that essentially the best thing any HC could do in that situation would be to manage, but not impose, on a team that was fully capable of winning the SB, and reap the rewards.

This also means that we can't really assess Tomlin's performance until after those players have retired or left, right? Because if we do, there doesn't seem to be an option for him "doing great"; just a choice between doing badly, and doing "enough" to let the team do their thing.

But the follow on from this is that the moment we can fully assess Tomlin - i.e. actually give him the option of doing a really good job - the team is in a state where it has a number of superstars at the end of their career, commanding the kinds of salaries that entails; a number of gaps where the superstars have left; and a number of draft picks made fairly late due to the success of the last few years.

Now, none of this really addresses the issue of lack of passion or the problems with execution on the field, etc. etc. But, like 12to88 says, we need to be clear on the situation.

I don't really get the point made in 2. The fact that Brady was out of the league affected all teams, surely - but only the Steelers won the SB. Catching lucky breaks is not exactly an isolated event in the history of the Steelers success.
