Changes? Please. Knowing Tomlin and the ownership any such change will inevitably involve throwing more unnecessary bureaucracy at the problem instead of fixing it.

Which is to say that the team will bring in an assistant or three to "help" with righting the ship, as it were. But, like a ship, there's not much you can do when the existing captains and their right hand men are dangerously inept.

To take this analogy further, if this current iteration of the Steelers franchise would be the Titanic - a team with everything going for it; that should be doing great things yet is somehow sinking due to the the overconfidence and weakness of leadership of the captain and crew - then the idea of promoting "assistants" as a remedy to salvage a sinking ship them would be be as if, instead of vowing to build a better ship with a brand new, better disciplined crew, the owners of the Titanic decided that if they're to "save" their already doomed vessel, maybe the best course of action would be to hastily promote existing sailors to serve as trusted advisers to the first mates and captain - nevermind the fact that those promoted sailors were part of the culture that helped cause the ship to sink to begin with.

That approach is as demonstrably ineffective as it is absurd. Internally promoting some lower level schmuck won't change the culture, nor outcome. This strategem will only, at best, serve to delay a foregone conclusion - however, recent history suggests that this practice only hastens the demise and in some cases, removes yet another bottom floor entirely, thus giving way to new lows never thought possible (especially for such a once great and storied franchise).

That's the sort of "change" I'm expecting although it's perhaps just as likely that the idea that superficial bureaucratic change is on the table will prove hollow and illusory. I would perhaps sooner expect Tomlin to inform us that the strategy will be to eat breakfast and lunch an hour earlier each day.

I disagree. There's no shortage of people on this site that talk about not watching the games. I watch basically every game. Up until a few years ago, I didn't miss one. If I did miss it by some miracle, I would record it and tune out the outside world until I got a chance to watch it. There's not a lot of people that have watched more games than me over the past 30 years. I will still watch the games when I can, but I'm choosing to have thanksgiving with my family next Sunday instead. This past Sunday I chose to do something with my son instead of neglecting him for 3 hours like I used to do every Sunday.

I will watch the games, but I won't prioritize them over everything else in my life anymore. They may care, I'm sure they do, but they're not even ****ing trying to win anymore. Sure, the players are, the coaches are, the GM is, but ownership isn't. They've done nothing to fix the mess they've created, absolutely nothing.

This has been a debacle since 2018 and nothing changes. I had no problem with Cowher going 6-10, coz the next year they were better. This team is content at playing 500 or a game over as long as its not a losing record, year after year after year!
Best thing that can happen is they finish 2-15, maybe just maybe someone will notice we have a problem!
Steelers organization is starting to remind me of the Pirates organization, and thats not good!

We almost went to the AFC championship game but lost against Denver with Bubby behind the helm and Hoge had the game of his life in that game. Before that **** bag Magnum PI led us to it against the Dolphins in 85 where we got our ass handed to us. We own the record of AFC championship appearances 16 and losses 8. Spoiled but damn this is giving me feelings of the 80's. Hope we snap out of it and still holding out hope that a new OC gets Kenny right. I just don't want to experience the downside if he is a bust!!

At his Tuesday presser the big change is going to be they are going to practice in pads! Wow pads! He admitted after the Faders game that it was more of a cream puff practice which as we all know and have seen he played down the Texans and got his @ss handed to him. They were more the physical team so says Popcorn.

    Another 100 or so ums.

Blah blah woof woof same as it ever was word salad.

And these scared reporters couldn't muster up the balls to ask him why his garbage offensive coordinator said "Were not built to come from behind"

He has all the excuses to skate right into another contract extension.

We can only hope this is true.

Best case scenario at this point.

I suspect, for "continuity", Art will reup Mike Tomlin, praising his work many, many years ago.

I hope ARII has the balls to dump the entire staff, but I am highly skeptical.

And he and his staff had ALL OFFSEASON to fix things, only to show up as if they never did a days work. But hey, "never had a losing season"!

I hope we don't win another game for multiple reasons. It sucks that it's come to this.

No way anyone could be left on the planet thinking Mike Tomin is anything but a bust of an HC. He should have been let go before the last contract reup.

I think what makes the games so difficult to watch lately isn't so much that they're losing, it's how they're losing. I don't mind watching a bad Steelers team stink up the place, just so long as they have heart and it seems like they're genuinely trying to win, even against long odds.

With the small exception of the efforts given by a typically small handful of individual players, I see none of that so far this year - and haven't for quite some time now. This sort of attitude in losing bespeaks of an inherently weak, detached, and egocentric culture - a culture that is almost always bred from the top down.

This is why great coaching is so important. Coaches aren't supposed to be your friend - they're supposed to make their players eager to strive for greatness for the good of not just themselves, but for the team as a whole, and that this mentality exists even during lean times. Unfortunately, Tomlin - who is not even a particularly good syrategizer - is little more than a friend and cheerleader - and it shows.

I'm watching these games, though it's increasingly hard to justify. Life is so short. To spend hours watching a team that clearly doesn't even give a crap about winning is a tough sell - but I'm sticking it out, if only because I keep hoping that something will finally get better...of course, outside of a few blips of better play to avoid a losing season, sustained improvement never happens. In reality, there won't likely be any meaningful change until Tomlin and Co are gone.

I'm a still a fan and always will be, but this current iteration of the Steelers is a slap in the face to the the fandom across Steelers Nation, and it should be treated as such.

I went back and changed my phrasing. I respect the choice to not watch some of the games if you have something you think is more important going on, but your opinion of what is happening with the team is less valid if you do so.

The rest just gets silly. Just because ownership isn't making the choice you want them to make doesn't mean they don't care. I don't agree with what they are doing. I do think the organization misses Dan Rooney, but saying they don't care is a serious charge and it isn't one supported by the evidence.

His press conference is depressing. Doubled down on Canada and basically admitted they were Physically outplayed. That's embarrassing and a team coming out once again and showing that is all on HIM as the head coach!!

75% of us are venting, when we say we're done or leaving or not caring, it's not true. It's like threatening to quit your cable service, hoping they'll treat you like a new customer with a sweet 12 month deal, instead of treating you like a loyal customer and crapping all over you with triple price rates.

We all want ARII and GM Khan to treat us like new customers and cut out the rot from the organization, and there is no argument who is the first that needs to go at this point. Any other changes will have little impact until the main change is made.

KEEP VENTING. Who knows, maybe someone at Steelers HQ actually DOES care, besides Khan (I know he does).

If he didn't admit that his staff was outcoached, he was lying, either to himself or to the assembled media.

The saddest part of your analogy is the 80's weren't this bad; we at least had a decent defense and rushing game to some degree. This team brings "pathetic" to the discussion far more.

He's been hiney-kissed by the press, pundits and announcers for the better part of 15 years, his ego is the size of a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III. He actually still believes he is "one of the greats". I am not sure its his fault at this point. It's now ALL on Rooney. He owns this mess. Is he one of the few left that still think Tomlin is "one of the greats"? Lets hope and pray Rooney is uncomfortable and steaming and hearing it from his own family and friends and big money fans that have his ear.

Well… if things continue on their current track, I may stop watching, not because I don’t want to watch and support my team, but because I won’t own any TVs that haven’t had objects thrown through them.
