Apparently he's a candidate for the University of Texas head coaching job. Some Texas blogger was throwing out big names and he mentioned Tomlin.

Yeah and I'm going to hit the lottery (I know lame response but I couldnt come up with anything more smartassy at the moment).

Why in the world would anyone leave the Steelers to coach a college team? No truth to it. Just some random person plucking name to create a buzz for their "blog" and such.

Texas Mike "Twelth Man" Tomlin sorta does have a good ring to it (sorry couldn't resist). :lolol:

To make up for that, one of you folks that use Twitter, should start a Todd Haley to Texas rumor. :lolol:

See Blast, I hain't half bad now, am I ??

I don't believe it would happen but I think Tomlin would make an excellent college coach. Just saying.

:this!: I think he'd have consistently great recruiting classes, and seems like a guy young athletes would want to play for. I know I would. Would much rather play for a guy like Tomlin than some power-monger dictator like Schiano or Coughlin, etc.

Money talks that's why Texas has more money to spend than any other college they're the most profitable school. Rumors has it Texas will offer Nick Saban 10 yr 100 million not buying this figure but they will overpay.

Saban is the guy and from the reports flying around Mack will officially step down tomorrow and then hand over the reigns to Saban on Friday at the year end football banquet. Talks are somewhere between 8-11.5 million a year from 8-10 year deal potentially including 1% of the Longhorn Network and potentially a signing bonus of upwards of $20 million. Not a bad days work for Saban or his agent...

This info comes from one of the Texas Insider message boards. Not sure if 100% true but the poster is very well connected to the program per his posting history.

My issue has nothing to do with Saban moving to Texas etc. It is the facade that is College Football and that these are Student Athletes. That is true at some schools but at the biggest of big programs these kids are nothing more than a development league for the NFL. The money in college football is ridiculous and in my opinion filling the pockets of the wrong people.

The Longhorn Network has yet to turn a profit but it is sponsored by ESPN which has a guaranteed payment into UT. In addition I read that Texas has something like $8 billion in endowment dollars while Bama is in the millions. If this is truly about the money UT will win every time.
