As some dust settles and the inevitable reports come out (believable, who knows), most of the talk was around the total lack of professionalism, late for/ or totally blowing off meetings, the complaints from team members, knowing they were not going to offer another contract, it just made sense to get it done. Some have criticized, wait for a better deal, let him play it out, etc. They had him on the block at the draft and got no real offers, the start of the year is at hand...do you really want/need the BS that would come out? I personally wanted to see some WR play from 2 very talented guys, moving on with what is likely the best offer they were going to get is the best move.

Right. There was no way he was going to be here in 2026, and we have no idea how things would go with him if was here for a contract year and not getting the targets he wanted.

Omar said they were going to work on a contract extension

I’m guessing those talks did not go well

13 infractions in a 6 year career. Pickens has 13 infractions in a half.

The funniest part is he thinks that list proves his point.

    Nope.

Looking forward for two things, Mash.

    1) When TJ is asked about the pic he posted.
    2) When Metcalf doesn’t cause nearly the stir you think he will.

Will have to wait a while for the 2nd one, the first one, well thats going to happen pretty soon.

GM doesn't always tell the truth... remember when Khan said he had full confidence in Kenny Pickett at the 2024 combine....

He signed Wilson afterward and traded Pickett a few days later...

Frankly, I suspected something was up last summer when Khan was going after Aiyuk. You're talking about a WR1 heading into a contract year openly stating he was looking for $30M/year.

I wasn't entirely ruling out Pickens being kept, but the writing was starting to appear on the wall. Have to think Pickens got a sense of it, too, but if so it didn't do much to rein in his attitude.

Well, if MR was the QB of the future we wouldn't have drafted Pickett and signed Trubisky in the first place a few years ago. We brought him back, but our interest in bringing Aaron Rodgers in shows that we brought him back to be the back up, not to be the future plan of the franchise.

Howard is a 6th round pick. I am as high on him as anyone, but we don't HAVE to give him a window to be the guy. There's a shot he impresses enough in 2025 for him to be given the shot in 2026 (and beyond), but that would likely mean that we started the year with no Rodgers and Rudolph at the helm. We would also have to have Rudolph perform poorly enough (or get injured) to give Howard an opportunity to play. He then would have to essentially light it up. It isn't impossible, but there's a thin line there. If we think that the QB class of 2026 holds a better answer, then we could easily go that route.

My hope is that Howard works out and we can use that first round pick on a WR or someone like Caleb Downs. But that is hopeful for sure. Lets see how it pans out.

Y'all sent complaining on a player a like Pickens. So y'all buckle up, because metcalf y'all really aren't going to like. Specifically if a backup QB can't get him his numbers.

I’m not surprised about that. He was the first because he couldn’t control his behavior. I will stick my neck out and say with all this nonsense we’re hearing about Rodgers and the rest of all these trades and draft picks as long as we have MY as a head coach we won’t be any further that what we were last year.

Because you have to weigh the crazy against the loo......errrrr, wrong reference. You have to weigh the problem issues against the skill level. If the skill level is high enough to outweigh the problems, you deal with the issues.

I'll take that bet with ease in 2027 (but not behind Lambs).
    - Pickens was younger than they were
    - who did Pickens have throwing?
    - who did he have as OC? oh yeah Canada who couldn't get us going on the first drive. And smith who enjoys changing it up with RB being more involved.

    you need a new narrative.

there is no goal pole shifts. there are facts and fiction.

you seem to live in a world of "I wish"

Stop drafting these guys then MT, you have a track record as long as your arm of drafting miscreant, malcontent WR's.
