    Good move for him IMO.

Seems like a much easier gig than coaching. Maybe a couple days a week. Only during the season.

Pay is still phenomenal...but I'm sure less than he was making as a coach.

Sounds like Tomlin's coaching salary was something like $16mm/year.

Googled Cowher's salary as an analyst...says something between $5MM and $10MM.

Certainly a pay cut. But the amount of work you do much be close to nothing compared to coaching an NFL team.

There was a poster on the board I came from (Flipping Burgers) who suggested that it would be great if Tomlin did a podcast. Something like Tim Ferriss where he talks to high performers from all kinds of different jobs and tries to figure out what their keys to success are. I feel like that's something I'd listen to. I was kind of hoping for something like that because it's probably something I'd listen to.

TBH, I don't really watch the talking heads on any network. So I pretty much won't see any of this. Which is fine.

Surprised he is doing this. From his own lips, he has not interest in tearing people down.

    Will be hard critiquing people.

When he would give his pressers leading up to games, it was always praise even after game pressers, never a negative word about anyone.

Some fans seem to think that players doing podcasts is end-of-the-world level stuff when they talk about the Steelers. Does a former head coach doing a podcast mean the end of the universe as we know it?

I think it's fine for players to do podcasts...although I'd generally prefer for it to be (1) after they retire or (2) not during the season.

Although I think Cam has done OK doing podcasts while playing. And All Things Covered was good when Pat Peterson was still playing.

But it's the internet. No matter what the topic is, someone is going to be crying about the end of the world.

    Interesting.

Does he go Dungy route and just stay on TV for however long it works out or does he go full Gruden and try and make it a platform for getting back on the sidelines?

Good to see Tomlin get on with his life's work. Wish this happened 9 years ago.

He'll be the ying to the others' yang. This could be his calling card as analyst. Too easy to critique bad teams. Much harder to find positives but he is the one to do it (e.g. just listen to some of his pressers vs the Browns)

Pretty much expected something like this. There was a lot of talk about it around the time he announced his retirement, and I remember he apparently got a lot of offers from TV stations.

Tomlin will be a much better NFL Analyst than HC.

He will definitely ... thrive in this role. He definitely will bring some freshness to the booth. I am definitely excited for him.
