If Tomlin stuck with fields he’d be living in his fears. That was the move most of the media (including Ben) wanted.

    glad Tomlin didn’t listen.

The difference between a Wilson offense and Fields offense?

Wilson was under center on 75% of his snaps. In Fields last game, he was in shotgun on 52% of his snaps. That is a huge difference in the PA world of football.

I'm just having some fun with the decision to start Wilson, it seems most of the talking heads and fans wanted Fields to continue to be the starter.

LoL. Reminds me of when the whole media picked us last in the division, and said Ben was done, and then we went 11-0, and Ben had 34 tds.....and then the narrative was it was all smoke, and mirrors. No matter how it ended. They were wrong what they said, and tried twisting it to fit their narrative.
How about Russell Wilson hasn't played a game since last December, and He was rusty. You could actually see the passing getting better as the game wore on

Even Tomlin is smart enough to see that the Jets ORG is turning into the, "Aaron Rodgers's". He's making all the calls with basically no oversight! Probably could havee went with a Wildcat O and still let Rodgers beat himself. That ship is sinking fast!

Another big difference with Wilson is that he is very comfortable and effective taking snaps under center, and that helps the RBs get downhill quicker and enables better play action fakes because the ball is less visible to the second level defenders as Wilson turns away from the line. That is a key to most effectively running Smith’s offense.

That and Fields doesn’t even try to sell it. Wilson at least makes it look like he is trying to hand it off. But why is that not corrected by the coaches, thats an easy fix unless Fields is just so uncomfortable turning his back to the defense and wants to get into position as quick as possible.

    THIS

    RUSTY.

Yes, he was rusty. IF that RUST is still there after the BYE, then of course, we know we have problems. My hunch is that he will get 'caught up' with the speed of the game. that he can still throw the ball 60 yards down the field in the air. I don't know, have not seen him do it.

But as has been stated ad nauseam, we got these 2 guys for FREE basically. It was a DICE ROLL, with HEAVY MONEY going to the D side of the ball.

Wilson is a natural at it, like Pey Pey was.

    Not all are.

Maybe Fields is not getting it, I don't know. Learning and changing are hard.

anticipating what defenders are doing comes more natural to russell than it does for fields. fields has a harder time when he is looking at the defense figuring reads so keeping his eyes downfield is critical to him. less so for wilson. processing is much easier for russell than for fields. this is why the flow looks smoother.

Hail Mary. Wilson is not better than Ben was at this stage of his career and he didn’t have enough left in the tank to do it.

Lot went right for Wilson that game. Some great catches, the line stepping up and protecting him and the Jets seemingly grabbing some guys from Kmart to play in the secondary.

They could go into this bye with more questions than answers.

Some Qbs just refuse to get hit, while some will take a hit to complete a pass, and then some like Ben, and now A. Rodgers have been hit so much that in their old age are like.....f**k that. LoL

This is exactly something I've tried to impress upon people. A Qb gets used to playing a certain way from childhood to they hit the NFL, and then people think....even though he's played this way his entire life.....we can just change him in a few years. It rarely happens. Example: Lamar Jackson....He is just now in his 7th year starting to understand how to play from the pocket......before this year it was any flash, and I should run, and then later it was .....I know I should stay here , but I want to run, and then....I forcing myself to be indecisive either way, and now He's doing it correctly.....running when only necessary....while Keeping his eyes down field. Problem is.....most Qb don't get 7 years to do this.....

I agree. Minus the WR’s, it’s a better team now.
