I was ALL IN on Russ from Day 1 and had doubts on Fields. Both have done about what I would have expected.

    RUSS still has upside.

in spite of a choppy OLINE, BOTH succeeded in their own ways. Mike T and A Smith figured it out for BOTH of them, to put them in the best positions to succeed. that - and at times, an amazing defense - has us here. still plenty of season of left, keep watching!

I lived/worked in Seattle for a decade. Two of my sons were born there so they are both Hawks/Steelers fans. My one son is a big Wilson fan…he kept telling me:

1.Russ was hurt for two years.
    2. Russ was pretty darn good last year. (He beat the Chiefs)
    3. Russ doesn’t fit with Peyton
    4. Russ’ style will fit Steelers and Arthur Smith - great match for him
    5. He will thrive in part because we have a quality defense - like the Seattle Super Bowl years

Honestly, he kept pounding this stuff until I was like ok, ok! Now he keeps saying, “I told you!” And I don’t get tired of hearing it!

In fact, lately the conversation has been… What if we win this thing? What if he signs a three year deal and wins another one? Would he go into the Hall of Fame as a Seahawk or a Steeler?
    Yes,,,big ifs…but we’re fans…that’s what we do!

Yeah.....Your totally right....let stop with the facts so it doesn't mess with with what people want to believe......like the Coaches told Fields not to throw to the middle of the field, or that the OL , Wrs, and TEs totally sucked, and that's why Fields had to run all the time, and only threw 5 tds in 6 games. Stop with the facts. LoL

Ben chucked a bunch of USELESS TD's vs. Jax in 2017 playoff game

    stats w/o context are meaningless.

    it was 28 - zip.

Where was Cam that Sunday? Getting trucked, that is where he was.

And Ben was sucking it up early.

What does Cam have to do with Ben??
Yeah You correct....TDs are useless....especially in a game that was decided by 3 points. LoL hahahhha.
Do You just say things to just say them...without any thoughts

i say things to you....to MAKE YOU THINK

we trailed by 2 TD's the entire game, even when close. BARELY got to striking distance late in the forth.

You don't think much, you just google stats.

Yeah 3 point game....You are right ....no chance....tds are stupid. LoL. Ben's was totally at fault. LoL.
Actually some of us watch games, and more than once, and actually see beyond what is going on past the ball.

Just want to add, yes, teams purposely avoid the MOF since it is a higher risk of turnovers. The teams with elite QBs will attack it more. Teams with lesser quality QB play or QB’s that are short cough *Russ* cough will use it sparingly.

Just want to clarify for the people not very familiar with the X’s and O’s portion of the game.

Facts are not your friend here. It was not 28-0. It was 21-0, then 28-7 before two of those so-called meaningless touchdowns by Roethlisberger got them within seven points midway through the third quarter. Do you think a team is out of a game if they are within seven in the third quarter?

A punt was the same that a turnovers with how bad our defense was in that game....When the Jaguars had the ball, they had a great chance to score no matter their field position

That game was never as close as the score indicated. Anytime the Steelers would close in, the Jags would extend their lead back to 14 points. They exchanged TDs throughout the 4th maintaining a comfortable lead until the Steelers closed within 3 by scoring a TD with 1 second left.

Jags were in full control of that game from start to finish. I suspect thats what Mike is alluding to by stats without context.

STD does not understand this - he sees a score and some stats.

this is exactly what I am saying

the game was never a contest.

I hope we can talk about Wilson again in this thread since the loss in 2017 is still too paintful too me...I have enough to talk about that!

Down 7 , yes - we did close the gap, in the 3rd. then a couple of possessions later, JAX re-opened the 14 pt lead.

we were close for about 6 mins, so I will give the argument that.....

I never understood why Haley was called too many run plays during this period since the steelers were still down by 7 points and Ben was on a hot streak for the rest of the game...Just a nightmare

The Steelers pulled within seven with 9:09 remaining in the third quarter. The Jaguars did not immediately answer with another score. They did expand the lead back to 14, but that was with 10:34 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Steelers weren't out of it until the Jaguars scored to go back up 14 with under five minutes remaining.

It was a full 14 minutes on the game clock later when the Jaguars expanded the lead back to 14, not six. The Steelers had two more possessions with the opportunity to tie the game, including one that started at the Jacksonville 48. Your claim that the entire game was garbage time simply is not true.

There was one score in the entire 3rd qtr which pulled them within 7. Early in the 4th the Jags went back up by 14.

Game was never in doubt. If you watched that game and felt good about the Steelers chances than you and I are looking at that game through completely different lenses.

They mostly threw on the first of those possessions, but they did run it three consecutive plays on the next one. To be fair, the third run was on third-and-one. Then they inexplicably threw deep on fourth-and-one.

I'm pushing back against mikey's claim that the whole game was garbage time. It was not. If you get the ball twice down only seven, it's not garbage time. I wouldn't say I felt good about their chances because the defense turned in such a stinker of a performance, but this notion that they were never in it simply is not true.

that game just sucked all day long!

including MT's stupid decision for the OS kick late. 2:18 on the clock

KICK THE BALL, 2 min warning, stop them and use your TO's and then put the ball back in Ben's hands.

    Down 7 at the time.......

suck game - suck coaching, suck play! as I have said for years, I would have canned almost everyone that night. Wipe that entire slate clean.

never a good feeling about winning, even you could not have had good vibes.

only 'in it' for ~6 minutes.

that is the story of the 3rd quarter.....

Never in that game, it was over at 21-0. Defense sucked, couldn’t stop anything for there to ever be a real chance of winning that game.
