That's a good point. This reminds me of moving on after Ben. Harder than you think to find a good replacement immediately. We're still trying to find a franchise QB. Might be the same with a new coach.

Probably right. The new HC will be born after the Steel Curtain Super Bowl years.

You could see that the fire in Tomlins eyes was gone this year. Good for him for having the wisdom to step down.

I am going to start a rumor........

Harbaugh was just seen talking with Art Rooney. Tomlin also booked a flight to Baltimore today.......

Haha. And Russ Grimm was seen at the Steeler facility doorstep with his hat in his hand.

Big no on Harbaugh, he's Mike Tomlin 2.0.

This reminds me an awful lot of when Arians "retired" back in 2011. The team presented it as a retirement, but he later said he was basically forced out due to non-renewal. Seems to be Rooney's style to not want to look like a bad guy by "firing" a big name coach.

If Tomlin goes to TV, it won't be because he won't have any opportunities. There have been so many yahoos that are failed coaches getting multiple opportunities to be a head coach.

Do you really think that no organizations wouldn't want him as the face of their team? He coached the team to a Super Bowl victory and went to a second one. Most teams would kill themselves to get their hands on a head coach with that type of resume and the instant respect they would get because they get none presently.

Another rumor. Cowher was just hired and just traded for the rights to Jerome Bettis.

Maybe it's time Tomlin tries to get a House reboot going so he can audition for Dr. Foreman.

Oh, for sure. If fired, Tomlin wouldn't have been on the street for very long. He'd have a job immediately.
I think we can do better, but Tomlin would have been hired elsewhere right away.

I agree. Tomlin for all his flaws was a good coach. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. I hope they get it right. I’m sure his voice was stale in the locker room.

Great, now what about all these aging vets he signed. We need to clean house and Steeler nation needs to understand it is going to take time to rebuild a proper Team and Organization ie losing seasons. This was needed and should have been done when Ben left. Starts with right coach selection and philosophy which needs to be an Offensive one.

I know this is what everyone’s been asking for, but unlike the transition from Cowher to Tomlin it may get rough for a few years:

We don’t have a franchise QB to carry the team
Questionable if we have the right folks in place to find the right HC
Prized free agents may not want to play for a team that’s rebuilding

I think so but he was a good coach and we better get the next hire correct. He’s a hard act to follow.

Do you have a link? I haven't heard anything about that other than from you. Anyway, I hope it's not true.

Well this is weird. After all my bitching about Tomlin, this news hit me pretty hard. It's a good thing and overdue, but I got pretty emotional seeing his picture and the news. I wish him well.
