For the love of God thank you. I am now excited about a change as long as the whole staff is scrapped.

And the Steelers aren't going to hire a 64-year-old college coach, so the point is moot.

Whoever we get, Art II needs to let him do his thing and not keep insisting it is 1983.

He’s 64, and I have my doubts about whether his approach would work with NFL player egos. Great coach for the type of overlooked players he’s gotten at Indiana.

I've been on board for that for many years now.

But this place will lose it's ever loving mind when the 2026 Steelers go 5-11.

When it becomes a reality does it hit harder than one would think.
I know I have written many times 19-years is an eternity in the NFL and Tomlin is now moving on.
    19 years a not a losing season.
It is bittersweet but I believe as Tomlin does, it's for the best.

Turning the page to the next chapter might not be so easy as losing seasons are always a possibility.
Any coach that comes here will certainly see a roster that does not have a QB and a very questionable WR group.
He'll notice the aging defense no doubt.

Will Rooney and his GM's pick Teryl Austin or perhaps Arthur Smith to pick up from here?
That thought hurts to even think but it is a possibility.

Will they mine out another choice from the ranks of the fired staffs or pick from an existing one?
That guy would have his own staff preferences.

To quote Tom Petty, we are into 'the great wide open.' Who knows who will take the reins over here.

In Tomlin, I can't kick him around.
I remember Don Shula who was a great coach that couldn't seal the deal.
    Don Air Coryell was another.
Heck, there are quite a few. Tomlin has an edge, he is only 53.

There's definitely a tradition here. Chuck Noll started it, Bill Cowher carried it forth and Mike Tomlin carried it some more.
19 years, 200 wins. I can't say a lot bad other than 'it really was time.'
I did like his press conferences, loved those Tomlin-isms. I will miss those while at the same time I am looking forward to fresh coaching,

Steelers really missed the boat with Ben Johnson.
Not me. That would mean a top 5 pick in 2027. F.R.A.N.C.H.I.S.E. Q.B.

I'm 53... and would like to see another Super Bowl with Steelers in it before I'm 60. Not impossible with the right HC and QB.

Everything passes. Even with the great ones there comes a time, like Noll in ‘91. The message gets stale, an organic disintegration happens, mediocrity sets in.. y’all know the drill. Tomlin is a VA homeboy so I do wish him well.

And they have to open that check book for a serious coaching staff.

They definitely should interview Minter. I wonder if they will interview Brian Flores, they already know him from his one year with the Steelers.

Me neither. If I was running things, I would've traded everything that wasn't nailed down a few years ago. I would have been trading back in every draft I didn't pick a QB in to amass enough picks to eventually trade up to get my QB.

BUT...I have been a part of Steelers fans on the internet since there was an internet. And Steelers fans will go bonkers if the team looks like the Jets or the Raiders or the Browns or the Titans etc.

I would not be surprise for Flores....As you know,I think he is a very good coach, but I am not sure he would be the right choice....I will think about that in the next few weeks

That also depends on how you lose.

If you're competitive almost every week, like the Saints were this year even when they were 2-10, it's not a bad thing. But if you're embarrassed almost every week like the Jets and Raiders this year, that's a different story.

I was not a big fan of MT but I believe history will be kind to him. Love it or mock it, I doubt anyone will ever sniff 19 years without a losing record. I hope hiring in house is not even considered for a second.

I expect that’s going to happen, and I’m fine with it as long as it happens because we’re building. Even more than before, I like the thought of trying to trade down and see if we can find a suitor to trade a 2027 first to move way up to #21. Obviously it will take two to tango, but so many signs point to a number of good QB prospects next year.
