Mike Tomlin is stepping down from the Steelers

If we beat Texans and then got eliminated would Tomlin have earned another year? Maybe this was a blessing in disguise.

 

Now that would be funny. I would not even need to watch the game. I can see Collinsworth finishing the game in the blue tent......lol

 

So we getting Harbaugh?

 

Don't really know and you can't really believe what the press reports are as the team management always links arms to present a united front.......but it always felt like a Tomlin hire (reportedly a joint decision to be the QB coach and a Tomlin driven move to the OC), and a Rooney firing to me. But, that is just my gut feeling and not based on any particular fact. The Rooneys have tended to promote from within for a lot of positions though. That is a trend from many decades.

 

Ignoring pre Noll years, is this the longest streak without a postseason win (nine years) in franchise history? Even in down years in the 80's, they managed several postseason wins.

Tomlin was a great HC for awhile. Everything runs it's course. He would be awesome on TV.

 

Can Tomlin go to another team and coach? I thought the Steelers still had another year on his contract that would keep him from coaching another team somewhere else.

 

Swept the Ravens and won the division on his way out!! Mic Drop!

 

Hopefully this is true about Mike Tomlin quitting and not being fired, so the Steelers still hold his rights.

No reason to believe that the Steelers will get anything less than a 1st round pick when Tomlin does decide to unretire.

Tomlin should be worth about what Sean Payton was worth when he came back a year after his retirement

Maybe we promote Arthur Smith to HC. He is offensive minded. And he was a part of drafting Will Howard.


I wonder if Saban would consider just being the DC. He put so many players into the league. Or maybe Schwartz would be the option at DC. The coaches together at a couple places I think.

Honest question: for those rating disagree....do you think the Steelers will win more than 5 or 6 games next season? Why? Or do you think that no one will be upset on Steelers message boards if they do win 5-6 games?

Just curious. Do not care about the rating or whatever. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are.

I could care less about a winning record and getting blown out in first rd of playoffs
If it takes a losing season to build a quality contender
So be it
Let’s get back to basics
Draft young talent and develop them
