Tomlin isn't going anywhere and we all knew that.

I understand how people can say "Yeah, yeah, yeah, Saban gave the same blanket denials before hightailing it for Tuscaloosa." The difference is a) Saban was always a college guy, while Tomlin has always been a pro guy, and b) Tomlin isn't a scumbag like Saban.

You can say Tomlin is a subpar NFL HC or whatever, but, as far as I know, he's not the total amoral douche that Saban, Meyer, or Petrino are.

In seeing the clip for about the 10th time the line that stood out to me was "I have the best job in professional sports. Why would I have any interest in coaching college football?"

The way he said it, it was pretty clear what he thought about college coaching vs pro coaching. A step down. He's 100% a pro guy.

I agree, especially given his questions about Payton and Reid not being asked the same thing.

Were Payton and Reid mentioned as possible college hires by former associates, like Tomlin was with Whaley?

I really don't care what he does. JMO> MT is the most controversial topic imaginable on this board so its fruitless to bring him up. Instead, I try to take the Godfather's advice to Sonny, "Never let anyone outside of the family know what you're thinking".

On to the mistake on the lake for a win.

Here’s the video to Tomlin shooting the rumor down.

Oh, and Urban is definitely going back to college ball :lolol:

Well, that and the fact that they're 3-deep with NFL talent at every position. I never understood why players would sit 2-3 years at an Alabama/Clemson/OSU rather than be a 3-year star at Tennessee, UCLA, Miami...the current powers that be in college football have been enjoying an extended run, nothing cycles anymore.

If there is an underlying aspect within all of this, I do wonder as to why Mike Tomlins name is consistently linked with college coaching and/or jumping ship all together?! Such a concept I truly had not, have not and will never understand. Abandon the Pittsburgh Steelers for which North American Gridiron Football Team exactly?! Heck, even as prestigious as a college like USC is, the Steelers are a Cornerstone Professional Franchise.

Going from the Steelers to even a college like USC is no different than going from a Lamborghini Advenator to a Corvette C8; both great cars but one is very much better than the other in terms of performance.

Because he has been here 15 years. People want to try new things.

The NFL grind of a head coach is grueling, I don’t know how college coaching compares to that but I imagine it’s less so.

He probably has no interest in uprooting his family and leaving Pittsburgh, just giving a reason why he might want to leave the Steelers.

Tim Benz asked the question, and yes it was the last of the press conference

Tomlin is always nice to the media in regards to how other coaches sometimes are.

I believe it's because they think it's the easiest way into the NFL.
If I had a Son playing, and Alabama came 2 Him ....I would understand....Even though I'm not a Bama fan. I would just be a Bama fan until He graduated. LoL

I actually respect him making these comments. He was decisive and clear. No doubt about where he stands. I like that. Whether I want him to stay in Pitt is another story all together.

Thanks. I did watch the press conference later and read this morning that it was Benz, who handled it the right way.

    My point of view however does not pertain towards him just leaving but more so as to why AR2 would ever let him go. Unless Tomlin has done something insidious, Tomlin, like Cowher and Noll before him, will leave on his own terms. That said though and, something I did end up forgetting to state regarding Palmers comment;

More tongue-in-cheek than the media is letting on.

That’s what the rumor was, that Tomlin would leave not that he would be fired.

Eventually Tomlin will leave, Cowher had enough after 14 seasons.
