Try telling that to Bill O’Brien.

There are big ego donors in college football. Fortunately they are better educated than most athletes.

I'm not sure how there's this much discussion regarding this. I dismissed the notion before even opening the link to the article, and then found the article to be even more humorous.

If I bumped this from the 2nd or 3rd page I'd see your point, but my reply was ten to fifteen minutes after the last person that replied. Hardly a shameless bump.

Not to mention the fact that he lets the inmates run the asylum. A college coach has to be a disciplinarian. Tomlin seems to want to be one of the boys. That garbage doesn't play in NCAA football.

It was a joke. I thought the green font made that obvious.

Is Tomlin going to want to spend his off season traveling to Broken Arrow, OK or Paducah, Ky to kiss the ass of some 17-yr old recruit and his parents?

Is he gonna want to spend his week nights going to rubber chicken banquets to glad hand big money donors?

Right now MT answers to Art II alone. At LSU he’ll have to answer to the AD, the Univ Prez, the SEC, the NCAA, big money alums and the Gov of Louisiana. Guys who are politically connected football morons compared to the Rooneys. Would he enjoy that?

They fired a guy because he hadn’t won a 2nd National Chsmpionship in 2 yrs. job security in Pitt is virtually assured.

Tomlin might leave. But if he does it will to another NFL team or TV. I can’t see him coaching college.

    No

You apparently aren’t a Penn Stater

    They made his life miserable

An old adage is on stage you never want to follow kids or animals. He had no chance following Joe Pa, the greatest coach in college football

    Come on.
Joe PA was great, but greatest coach in college football. LoL. Please.
The greatest coach in college football is still coaching.

Saban? There's a perfect example of a guy who's style just didn't fit in the NFL but is hugely successful in NCAA. Urban Meyer may end up being another one.

I wouldn't say it didn't work. He didn't stay long enough 2 make it work, but I do see Your point.
He gets paid more money in Bama, less hours, and rules the roost.

Tomlin certainly being linked to a lot of college jobs. Are people just assuming he's done when Ben is?

He's been in the NFL for 15 years. If he wants a new challenge, USC wouldn't be bad spot.

Did Ryan Clark start this rumor? He was just throwing it out there as I wish and the next thing you know it’s spreading on the internet like wildfire.
    Plant the seed.

Tomlin aint going anywhere. This gig is too good for him to seek another job outside of the NFL. If by some small chance he were to take interest in this change of direction then I will gladly help him pack. He has hit his peak as an NFL HC.
