Agree with everything above - however, a knock-out style Safety that can actually make plays covers a whole lot of problems. We did that with Troy for years.

Seems to me the entire defensive backfield has these problems. I’ve never seen as many bad angles on tackling in my life. Arm tackles, bad angles and no ball presence. I really thought we could potentially turn the corner in this area, but these guys are bad. Haden can’t get back soon enough. Maybe he helps shut down one side of the field to some extent. The DBs are getting lit up on all the fundamentals.

The only person I saw get lit up was Davis this weekend. It’s too bad he couldn’t get a little help against an absolute monster of a man.

Been saying I don't like Mitchell for a couple years now and usually caught slack for it. The guy never makes a play on the ball. I can only think of one play along the sideline (defenses left side) where he broke up a pass. That was last year or the year before. But I remember the "dear diary" entry when he did it. It was a monumental day.

Tomlin said in his press conference there were some plays where there was supposed to be help on Gronk, he didn't call anybody out but it has to be Mitchell he was referring to.

The current safety play is reminiscent of the the Scott Shields-Lee Flowers days. The 11-3 record is amazing all things considered.

No one is intimidated by him. Opposing QB's lick their chops because they know he always late to the play, has little to no reaction skills, and is horrible in coverage, cement shoes. He is the weakest link providing nothing.

Haden is not even close to father time, Davis and Burns will get better.

Gay should have already been gone, and Sensauseless should be as well. Golden will stay.

I feel Wilcox is a better option. He played quite well early on when Mitchell was injured.

They need to draft a true free safety, one that can cover first and help in the run game. Probably a Inside Linebacker as well unfortunately...
