Mitchell is always the problem. Take for instance the deep ball bortles threw in 1st half. I think haden made the play but it was a duck. Mitchell had no clue where anything was. He over ran players, ball and then threw hismarms up like haden cost him a pick

Problem is. Who are you replacing him with? Robert Golden? Better have a plan before we just start releasing people.

 

No way man! This is the Steelers, we don't game plan, plan what's going to happen to players released right before the play-offs, or have any plan for the off season. We do plan on doing a lot of talking about opponents 2 weeks out and contract situations, though.

Really, free agency or draft it is pretty simple. The season is over and these 2 things are right around the corner, won't take much planning.

 

Ok, but Who? Mike Mitchell may not be what we need to be. But what I'm saying is the guy you replace him with better be an improvement. Are we bringing in someone good? Or are we bringing in JJ Wilcox. You cant just draft a guy in the third round and expect him to come in and start either. It takes plenty of planning.

 

I don't care what the cap hit is he needs to be gone. Planning. A high draft pick on a Free Safety that can actually cover, react, and not stand there like a buffoon. Also there will be free agents(that's how we got what we got). Wilcox was signed late due to the injury. I'm done with the hitter mindset as our free safety.

 

Yes I get what your saying and agree however just about anyone is better. There as been lit of talk here about safety being our biggest need and I could see a first rounder at this position. I have not looked at fa yet but there has to be a few guys there no? The bottom line is much like last year there where we all talked about how slow Timmons is the same is being said about Mitchell. The guy offers no help over top cause he is slow. Wilcox is not the answer but it was worth a try at the time he came available but now we know our weakness with both fa and the draft right in front of us.

We could play with 10 men on defense and be just as effective. His ball skills and football instincts are pathetic. We know what good safety play looks like in Pittsburgh and Mitchell falls pathetically short of that!
