I was not sure about this and want to know others thoughts. On a tipped ball you can wipe out a WR because

NFL RULES STATE - Pass interference for both teams ends when the pass is touched

Because it changes the timing of the ball.

Now they got Mitchell for a block in the back but I think that was a bang bang. Mitchell could not see who caught the ball and was zeroed in on the Redskin receiver. He hits him before Shazier takes one step.

If Shazier simply bats the ball its no foul....but since he caught it, its a block in the back.

I understand why it was called, I just don't know that I like the rule as it currently is.

That call was bogus. If I recall the hit happened pretty much the same time as the interception. Typical breaking up a pass play hit.

Don't like the call either, but like you said it was bang bang... Many rules keep coming were not all informed with and all are discretionary... Enjoyed the outcome so on we roll.

I never actually saw the play and was curious what the hit actually looked like. I just always assume a block in the back happens on the return. I didn't realize it happened on the actual catch.

I didn't remember it being tipped. Was it tipped at the line of scrimmage?

Honestly... There was enough reaction time... I agree with the call... Shazier tucked the ball and started to move by the time Mitchell put his hit on.

It would have been different had the ball been tipped and coming down from the sky when the hit happened.... But shazier had the ball secured

There really wasn't a good camera angle of it that I could see, but the explanation was that AFTER the INT the foul occurred.

It looked late to me, but if it was tipped all bets are off.

It was a bad block and unnecessary. Shakier was off and running. If you are looking at the numbers, don't block.

Was it after the INT....In slow mo..yes...but the game is not played in slow mo....Mitchell took about 2 steps....and the WR was between him and Shazier....really no way to for Mitchell to see who had the ball.....No the ball was not tipped.. my point was once a player touches the ball...all PI is off the board......the time it went from being a tackle to knock a ball loose to a block in the back was about half a second.

Thought that was one of the worst calls of the night. As a matter of fact, my buddy who is a REDSKINS fan is the one that pointed it out to me. Mitchell was going for the tackle. He would of had to have defied the laws of physics in order to have held up on that one.

I'm as big a homer as anyone but I thought Mitchell had time to pull up but chose to take a shot at the WR anyway. Ben got him off the hook by leading us to a touchdown because it was essentially a 60-65 yard penalty after Shazier's return was negated

Didn't Shazier look fast taking that back? That was impressive for a linebacker. He can sure fly.

Don't know if you read it in training camp, but he beat all the receivers in a 40 yard dash. Minus Heyward-Bay I believe. It was Coates, Brown, and Rogers.

Mitchell is a bit of a hot head. Not sure if this is good or bad. On one hand because he has this chip on his shoulder he is scrappy and packs a load when hits a defender. As for the call it was too fast to say either way ..

At first I thought totally bogus but after watching it a few times it could of probably been avoided and unnecessary..roughness no ...but why. That's just Mitchell we are gonna get a few of those this year you can count on it. The other call that I didn't like and couldn't get a good look at it was the late hit they called in favor of J James then picked it up cause they said the guy that hit him was pushed....I didn't see any push....

    Judgement call.

Whether we as football fans; sports fans for that matter, like it or not... this is just the human element of the sport. Good or bad.. this is the current state of affairs. Until there is a full proof plan, expect more of the same.

The problem was Mitchell was hitting to try and separate the ball from the receiver, I think. Ball just never got there.
