Stop.........Glennon turned down 8 mil to stay as a back up in TB, why would he come here for less? Also I would be pissed if the Steelers gave up a 2nd for AJ, and I like AJ. My question is the Ben retiring talk more than talk??????

I think you answered your own question. If Ben is really going to retire, an answer we need by the draft IMO, then these are options we should potentially examine as potential starters. Really that is the only reason we would be/should be looking at these guys.

Glennon would be an interesting pick up, but I can't see it working with the money we'd be putting towards him.

Id gamble on AJ, wasn't a big fan coming out of college but he showed me something in that playoff game. Of course it was our defense so need to take that with a grain of salt :lolol:

Kid is no stranger to the big stage though, that showed in the playoff game, had great poise.

Could be a guy that succeeds Ben, not just backs him up.

Funny thing is I wanted them to draft Glennon over Landry Jones. I would have taken Tebow was a project as well. He had to have learned how to throw the ball by now.

I'd be very interested in AJ if the price wasn't steep.

I have a better shot at winning the lottery twice than for the Bengals to trade McCarron to the Steelers. Plus the Steelers would be idiots to trade a second round pick for him. 3rd or 4th round maybe but again no way would they send him to a rival.

I read in this mornings sports that the cardinals have the same dillema with carson palmer, they cant afford to pay glennon big bucks to sit a year out with palmers 24 million salary, and they only see 4 QBs in this draft thats franchise worthy, with AJ he is still learning the pro game, and you cant say yeah he can replace Ben, and the bengals would love nothing better than sticking it to us in a trade because we get desperate for a QB........

Seems more than just smoke that Ben might really be thinking of hanging it up ..As stated above the only reason to look at these guys is for starters not bu's ..

Giving up a 2nd rd for AJ is a risk but is it any bigger a risk than spending a 1st in a couple years when Ben retires or sooner?

At the very least, AJ will keep us competitive until we find a replacement for Ben.

Can't see parting with a 2nd unless Ben said behind closed doors this will be his last season. AJ could start for sure. Give up one of the 3rd's and a pick next year and were talking. Then it's ba bye Laundry...

"If" Ben is in fact on a one more and done trip, then yeah I'd spend the 2nd and give AJ a year in the system. Honestly think it would be a good move.

No Tebow hasn't learned how to throw, that's why he's out of the league.

I would give a 2nd for aj. Let him back Ben up for a couple years. Let's face it. If Ben wins a super bowl he might say it's time

Based on what? AJ is an unproven QB with 4 starts and a 2-2 record, and you all are ready to name him the second coming, give me a break??????????

The talks of the team being interested could be nothing more than "so what is the asking price for Glennon? Oh wow that much, OK we were just checking". I'm betting it was a quick conversation and then it was leaked to get negotiating leverage with L Jones.

Never said 2nd coming myself, just that I think it could be a good move. Not much tape on him for sure, but I think he can play

I wonder why nobody else thought he could play until the bengals thought they had nothing to lose with a 5 pick, I dont have anything against the kid, he has an average arm and not very athletic but I guess he could be groomed into a serviceable QB, but I just dont see him as a franchise type guy, just my opinion....
