I beat Mike Adams on a bull rush. Seems like everyone else is getting a turn....

Don't know if you saw my thread about Camp on Sunday, but Adams false started 2 plays in a row at the start of the Red Zone Drill.

Sad to see someone with such spectacular physical gifts struggle so much. Either he wants it or he doesn`t. Right now, it doesn`t seem like he is too interested in wanting a job on this team.

If that was the case, I think he would have just pouted and not worked so hard to get back in the lineup after being demoted to TE duties. It's not likely that he will be cut, so we'll get to see what kind of effect Munchaks tutelage ends up having on him.

I really wouldn`t be surprised if he was cut before the season. Since his arrival in Pittsburgh, there haven`t been too many positives with Mike Adams. Remember, we cut Kraig Urbik out of nowhere. Adams has far more negatives than Urbik ever had. Tomlin & Munchak will keep more versatile linemen if need be.

A weakness listed on a draft profile:

" Adams is not a very exciting player and can struggle at times with effort-based issues that don't allow him to get much movement on the line when run blocking. He is more of a catch and react blocker than one who delivers blows, and will need to play with more fire and look to unleash his inner-athleticism to be able to succeed at the next level.."

I wrote back in October 2013 that offensive tackle Mike Adams needed to be replaced, and in the nine months since, he has done nothing to dissuade me.
Training camp has been a nightmare for Adams, and at this point it seems more like a matter of when, not if the third-year pro finds himself out of work. The Steelers are putting together a very talented offensive line. With the potential addition of more outside zone, playing on this line is predicated on being able to get out in space and cut defenders.
Adams is a nice run-blocking lineman. He’s got all the measurables you want from an NFL-caliber tackle. Unfortunately, his overall lack of athleticism and terrible feet are just too much to overcome. Pittsburgh has some interesting young linemen who can play multiple positions.
Considering the number of injuries this unit had last year, those types of players are far more valuable than Adams. Sorry Mike, but there's no place for you on this team.

I actually liked the big fella when we drafted him. What's not to like, he's got all the measurables. C'mon big fella, pretend the guy across from you is trying to steal your truck...errr... Wait a minute.

I don't think he will get cut this season, they don't have much depth at OT. If they re-sign Gilbert then in the offseason they cut Adams.

I agree, he won't get cut because he's learned how to avoid the knife better from last Summer!

Bad camp so far. He may be on his way out. Denver or Seattle may be possible landing spots.

He's playing on his rookie contract. Too cheap to cut, unless he's really that bad.

I think they keep 9. beachum, foster, pouncey, DD, gilbert, and two starters with contract extensions by the start of the season. Wallace, Johnson, whimper, adams. browning and hubbard to the squad. I'm guessing Wallace, Johnson minimum on game day. Wallace and Johnson have new contracts too.

My problem with Adams is not that he doesn't have the fire or will to do it, as a previous poster stated. No, I think it's worse than that, he doesn't have the talent.

Those feet! He can no more sidestep the outside for the block than he could the knife.

    I'm disappointed.

Agree with you and SCNB, Sad to see, had high hopes but he just doesn't have the feet. Munch is installing the OZBS which REQUIRES quicker OL.

I can see them cutting Adams, making a statement to Everyone that you must earn your spot. Whimper is the 1st OT back/up. In emergency Foster can slide outside and be easily replaced at OG. They seem to really like Wesley Johnson playing him in several different positions. Also they don't need him at TE either.

Its a numbers game, and His number may be up.

To me it all comes down to what Wesley Johnson shows he can do in preseason.

To me Johnson hasn't done enough yet, but that is not to say he won't, he has enough time left to prove it.

I wouldn't count on Johnson contributing this season, from what I have read he has struggled so far probably headed to the PS.

I wouldn't count on Adams being cut just yet. In a way he reminds me of a young Flozell Adams. He's big and he can run block straight ahead but backing up in pass coverage he stinks.

Flozell played pretty decent for us on his last leg... If Adams turned out half as good as the hotel I'd be surprised at this point

Tunch and Wolfe said they like Chris Hubbard too, I guess that is another guy in competition with Mike.

Although I think Hubbard is a guard, but I think outside the starters they only keep 3 more guys. Who knows, maybe Guy Whimper might be the swing tackle and that leaves room for Chris.

Bottom line, Adams is in a fight right now, I hope he realizes it.
