What did Jones do to warrant a chance

This was asked for probably the umpteenth time on asked and answered and Bob was pretty brutal but definitely answered any one who thought ZM was better than Jones.

Yep. This way, Mettenberger also has a better chance of competing for another teams roster.

A shame to lose Severin as well, but WR is pretty crowded I guess.

That sentimentality didn't help Timmons to stay in Pittsburgh, none of that crap matters. It's all about the $$$$$$$$$.

They didn't want him to show up LJ , as it would make more people aware of just how bad LJ is ..

Yeah, because the steelers would purposely hold back a better player hat can help them win games in order to protect a back up QB they like better... give me a break.

LJ is better than Mettenberger. That's not even a debate. That's why he's here and Mettenberger isn't. LJ is actually a fairly quality back up. There's only about 8-10 guys I'd rather have than him. Most back ups suck. If you compare one of the best career back ups Matt Moore against Landry his first two years of game action... their performances are actually very similar (assuming you throw out Moore's few games his rookie season as LJ didn't appear in any games as a rook). Moore continued to develop obviously but LJ has been better every year as well.

People still view him as the lost deer in the headlights he was as a rookie and in his second pre season... he's not that guy anymore and has proven it on the field when he's had the chance to play. He will never be a quality starter but he is a pretty solid back up for now.

We need to stop beating this fallacy into the ground imo
