Tomlin said they had talked about that 4th down play leading up to the game the Bills ran, good job by the coaching staff to be ready for it .

Based on how we collapsed at the end of last year, I’m sort of in I’ll believe it when I see it mode.

I enjoy watching the games and don’t get bent one way or another. I’m usually pretty optimistic. But the end of last year kind of didn’t sit well with me. At the end of of the last Cleveland game, the force from the dark side was pretty strong. But I did hold my ground.

There is no dark, or light side ....there is only the force

They said the Bills failed as many 4th down conversions in that game against the Steelers as they did in their entire 2020 season

Yeah, that's a crazy stat. Our defense is for real. Loved what I saw from them. We hopefully wont need to score many points to win games this year lol

Most of the "collapse" had to do with injuries and lack of a bye week though. We had Spillane and Allen starting at LB, a rookie OLB with no one behind him worth anything to help spell him, Hassenauer was starting at Guard against WFT, etc. We we're a shell of ourselves at the end of the year due to injury, and we also had the misfortune of a wonky bye week set up due to COVID. We were a good team that just got unlucky. If we can stay healthy and avoid COVID weirdness, I wouldn't expect a similar collapse this season. We will have a tough schedule to end the year, but we already proved that we can beat good teams with the squad we have now.

Steelers win games early in the year, Tomlin lap-sitters gloat about it. The back half of the season hits, the team falls apart because the staff refuse to/can't make counter-adjustments and the HC thinks "just beat your man" is a legitimate strategy. Tomlin lap-sitters revert to claiming they're thankful for no losing seasons. Different season, same crap.

Tomlin gives the team a shot at hardware nearly every year yet some rather have the next D. Pederson. Such a dilemma.

Tomlin is a good regular season coach.... like Andy Reid with the Eagles and Marty Schottenheimer with Browns, Chiefs and Chargers. Popcorn is not a good playoff coach and Steelers haven't had any chance of winning any kind of hardware in 11 years.

Agree with most of this Heinz except the any chance part. Remember Popcorn thinks it's the player's journey.

Going to be tough to avoid injuries in a 17-game schedule. When they happen, great coaches try to hide them by accentuating other strengths. Next Man Up isn't a viable way to deal with injuries.

Imagine having such a bad strategic mind at HC that you need to stoop to trying to sell rotating defensive linemen as some kind of exotic defensive maneuver

TOMLIN should get credited with a very nice week 1 W. Like I said in another post the Steelers with TOMLIN usually peak late October. Early season success is nothing new for this group. It’s all about the finish….

Of course it worked. Watt, Highsmith, Ingram, and Heyward are each really good lol That doesn’t address the point at all though but nice try

Cowher was usually the opposite. I'd get really frustrated with September Cowher. Steelers would stink it up early, but finish strong... which is much better than what has happened over the past 4 seasons.

How many times did McDermott go for it on on 4th down? It feels like at least 4 or 5 times.

He is attempting to take the heat off his players and place it on him- good and correct move.
