Did you see what the suckhawks did to the cardinals? I think I ll take Tomlin's not being prepared over Whiz's. This board would burst into flames if we lost 58-0.

Its still a loss no matter if the score is 58-0 or 34-24. Not being prepared is unacceptable no matter who the coach is. I dont think you can choose one coaches level of being unprepared over anothers.

Way too much is being put on Tomlin. I mean really, how many different ways can you tell them not to commit stupid penalties? What do you guys want Tomlin to do? He's benching players for poor play, moving others down the depth chart, he was heard blasting the team yesterday after the game. What do you guys want him to do? The new CBA handcuffs coaches now, he can't run practice in full pads all week, these guys are coddled, million dollar babies, I think you guys should be blaming the players, not the coaches on this one. Maybe our players are just dumb, I mean really, how many times do you have to have it drilled into your head?

I don't believe that, this team is Dr Jekyll Mr Hyde, you don't know which one you are going to get. Could be the team that won 4 in a row or it could be the team that plays like crap against bad teams. As bad as it is losing to SD, Raiders and Titans, we also beat the Giants, Ravens and Washington. But no one remembers the good wins. I know this team was starting to roll right when Ben went down and that's the team I believe we are.

i have wondered about this for a while. We have some tremendously gifted players in the physical skills department, but I wonder how bright they are. Route running and heads up situational football, skills we seem to lack, are cognitive skills, and I am not sure many of our players are gifted in that area.

Giants ???? middle of the road team nothing more
    Redskins see Giants ....

Ravens ?? perhaps the luckiest team in the league this year , could as easily have twice as many losses .... but the one thing they normally do is find a way to win whereas we find ways to lose ....

if we come up against a Denver or Houston in the playoffs we are DONE with a Capital D ...be honest with yourself we have not beaten a TRUE QUALITY opponent all season ( in fact other than week 1 who have we played that should be considered QUALITY ? ) NOBODY ... I love the Steelers as much ( or more ) than the next guy but I refuse to be blinded by that love for the team to not be able to see the writing on the wall ...sure we have some quality players and maybe more than most other teams do but we do not play like a quality team most Sundays ... this team does not look emotionally invested in the game and far to many guys are just waiting to thump their chest while making a normal play that should be expected of them as a Pro player ...

Maybe it is me , maybe it is the change in culture of the team , maybe it is society itself these days ... but in my opinion these guys need a lesson or two in humility , The Barry Sanders school of act like you have been there before Humility .... seems like nearly every time one of our WR drop a ball with close def coverage they are motioning for a flag even when its clear they just did not make a play they should have made .... no humility !! no accountability !! always looking to place blame on why they did not succeed instead of simply just looking in the mirror for the solution to the equation they are looking to blame someone else ...

Tomlin is where it starts and stops . cliche after cliche is getting old ACTIONS speak louder than words ...

you want results MAKE results the only option , you bench RBs who fumble Bench WR's that drop catchable balls ... make people be accountable if they can not do it alone ... they say winning breeds success , then complacency breeds losing .... our team has been complacent .....

a complacent mentality is a losing mentality , a team not ready to play because they look past opponents or take win for granted is a team that will lose and we have witnessed it time and time again Just because we are the Steelers does not mean a team will lay down for you , you still have to EARN the W and we are not a team that forces lesser teams to earn anything ...

again that is on Tomlin for not making people accountable for so long ... it looks like he is starting to but consistency is key and he has not been consistent in those efforts ..in fact the only thing Tomlin is consistent with is his cliche talk ...

Wake up Mikey its time to become a real coach !!!

Couldn't diagree more about the Giants so we'll just leave that one alone. Ravens I have been saying that they are overrated all year but I don't care what you say, that was an impressive win at their house. Redskins are better then their record. I could flip it on you too with SD, no way that team should have the record they do, they have talent on that team.

What it basically comes down to is you are a glass half empty guy and I am a glass half full guy, you choose to ignore and make excuses for their good wins and I'm choosing to ignore and make excuses for their bad losses.

We'll see who's right but the odds are in your favor, lot easier to get knocked out of the playoffs then it is to go on and reach the SB, let alone win it.

if you want to see what a decent team does to an inferior opponent look at what the Seahawk's did to the Cards yesterday ...

hell look at what the Browns did to the Chiefs and we lost to the winner of that game and BARELY beat the loser ( and easily could have lost but where blessed with a couple of close calls that changed the outcome )

They also lost to the Cards the first time around, as well as the Rams. It's the NFL, not a team in the league that isn't capable of beating another. We'll find out what our guys are truly made out of this week, if they are not motivated after the pitiful effort they put forth yesterday then nothing will get them going.

I'm not a "blame everything on Tomlin" critic, but his reason for not going for two yesterday when he could have on a couple of occasions is laughable. So you want to keep those two point conversion trick plays in your pocket do ya Coach T? Okay, we'll buy that. Say you have a beach front condo in downtown Pittsburgh you'd like to sell us? Okay, just name your price.

Was looking for a place to put a few of these painful links, I just read, and this seems to be the thread, since the "venting" one must have been buried...

    http://triblive.com/sports/steelers/3106468-85/steelers-bengals-beat#axzz2Ehq4mQxy
I tried to post this a minute ago, with comments about each article in between them, but, somehow canceled my post out, so I will just say this...
The three articles referenced above, include a mix of players taking accountability, Veteran players calling out the younger ones, and some players just sounding perplexed by what just happened to them, and how it seems to happen so frequently.
Now, I will provide the link I meant to put first, because, i am by no means a Tomlin "HATER"...
But he is making it more and more difficult for me to defend him, based on his in game choices(or lack thereof), and post-game explanations(and lack thereof)...
Again, these aren`t MY words, but this writer seems to have some valid points for Tomlin`s supporters to adress...
(If any of them know how to put the full text directly in this thread, I would appreciate,
    Along with counter-arguments...?)
    http://triblive.com/sports/-topstories/3102976-85/tomlin-steelers-smoked#axzz2Ehq4mQxy
Tough for me to argue with his points, even tho I am tryin my best to support Coach T...

the rams are one half game behind us. there new coach has taken inferior players and put some fire under them to win. they are looking for a playoff game too. they took the 49'ers to a tie and a close loss. they are not last years rams by any means. they now have a good coach leading the charge. makes a difference.

In Tomlin's six season with the Steelers, they've been been to two Super Bowls and won one of them. They’ve made the playoffs in four of his first five seasons. He took over an elite NFL franchise from Bill Cowher in 2007 and it remains so today. But there's almost no denying the fact his teams lose an inordinate amount of times to weak opponents.

Tomlin was compared with four other successful NFL coaches, Bill Belichick. Tom Coughlin, John Harbaugh and Mike McCarthy. In the case of Belichick, Coughlin and McCarthy the comparison was from 2007 until today. The comparison with Harbaugh begins in 2008, his first season in Baltimore. Just for fun, we also threw in the final 93 games (a tie was omitted) of Cowher's Steelers tenure.

A staggering 35 percent of the Steelers loses under Tomlin have come against teams that finished the season with a losing record. McCarthy was the only coach remotely close to Tomlin in losing to losing teams. (This is based on season record, not the record of the opponent at the time of the game.)

    Losses to
Coach Record Winning pct. losing teams Pct. percentages of loss's to losing teams in red

    Belichick 74-19 .795 4 .

    Coughlin 57-36 .612 6 .
