Here's the thing. Ben has never had someone playing behind him that could potentially replace him. Let's face it, Josh Dobbs and Landry Jones are not future franchise quarterbacks and Ben knows it. Before those guys we had aging veteran backups who were also no threat to Bens job. This is the first time the Steelers have had a legit threat to Ben's spot on the roster. Dosent matter when he was drafted, the talent and the intent is evident. Personally I think Bens a little intimidated.

The best thing that can happen now is Mason looks like a Top of the line Starter and Samuels runs and catches like an all pro..
We open up 35 million in cap space in a year or two. Logically the best scenario... just hoping...

It would be nice if Ben got fired up over winning a SB instead of this petty s**t.........

Ben said he was going to retire, taking it one year at a time.. so what other choice does the FO have? Ben gets it..

He would win a Super Bowl if he had that defense, right now.

I am 100% elated that great defenses are on sale right now!!

This sale will not last though! Tomlin should act right now!!!

Well I hope these Defenses are on sale 2 for 1. That way both Tomlin and Butler can continue to make plays calls simultaneously.

Is the team supposed to rollover dead once Ben leaves because they haven't planned for the future ? If all this is true, how insecure is Ben that he feels he needs to look over his shoulder at a 3rd string guy that no one knows is even capable of making the team or ever becoming the starter ? As for Max Starks, somethings are best not said.

OK, I'm going into Gandhi/Buddha mode... Ben is the present, Rudolph is the future. We Steelers fans are blessed at QB.

Ben was not fired up over the draft pick for the reasons that have been presented..... there was no debate over who the leader of the team was, and Ben's place on the depth chart was not in question either.... the problem Ben had was the loss of perceived control.... When Ben talked retirement, everyone shook in their collective boots because that would make Landry Jones "the man", and the team rolled out the red carpet....... Now if he talks retirement, we may sweat a little, but his probable replacement is now in the fold and we will just wish him well....
Now I just hope Ben doesn't start pulling a Favre on us

Yeah, I'm have a hard time believing Ben was "fired up" or intimidated over the drafting of Rudolph. If this franchise isn't stable enough to make a star QB feel secure, we have bigger problems in the organization. I'm sure the plan is to groom Rudolph while Ben finishes out his career, and I'm pretty sure Ben has been included in that plan. But what do I know?

Maybe it is not the organization, but Ben's inability to feel secure?

We know Ben is a Diva.

I get what your saying, I just don't see Ben as a Diva. I concede our opinions of "Diva" could be different. When I think Diva, I if TO or Ocho Cinco...now there are two Divas for you.
