Maurkice Pouncey... starting to really not like this guy...

Did anyone else see Maurkice Pouncey blasting fans on Twitter? A few fans got at Pouncey after the loss for being injured all the time and not being there for his team. As a professional in his position he needs to turn away from all that and not respond... be smarter about how he carries himself. He came off cocky and ignorant and on top of his character he is constantly getting injured and not available for us at critical moments... if he misses any more games next season I will really think we wasted a 1st round draft choice. So many people were pimping this guy, I hope they don't all turn out to be wrong.

I give him a pass before being hurt and sick most of the year....but you even Pouncey can't deny that "injury prone" is a legit question as well as his toughness? Especially when his QB was out there giving it his all.

I think that Social Media was a real distraction for MANY of the players this year. Woodley posts updates to FB and Twitter EVERY day. Harrison and Brown as well. I just think that during the season, these guys should swear off of social media and focus on the team and winning ONLY. Granted, I probably wouldn't be posting something like this if we had won, but we didn't, and everything is an irritant.

Regarding Pouncey - I agree that he should be concerned about his ability to make it through an entire season healthy, but his career is only 2 years old. He has been one bright spot in the O-line the past 2 years. I don't think it's time for fans to start getting on him about his durability. If it happens again next year, it then becomes what I would consider a "tendency".

Pouncey has tried to play hurt too much and part of that is why he missed the playoffs, he came back too early from that ankle sprain and it cost him. He doesn't have durability issues. He barely missed anytime last season and had one injury this season where he was rushed back too early and rehurt it. Not a concern yet.

It's easier for Ben to play on the bad ankle since he doesn't have to try and hold off 300lbs NT's on every play. If players are falling onto Pouncey's ankle is isn't his fault, unless he doesn't know how to step back properly and it's causing this nagging injury.

i agree on social media being a distraction. these guys need to go the movie star route and hire people to control their social media if they are concerned about building their brand. i follow woodley and harrison on facebook and agree that they post A LOT. maybe too much. then again, it only takes but a minute out of their day. we want them to be pittsburgh robots who do nothing but lift weights and run sprints but they do have a life.

i give pouncey a pass. he's a kid. people forget he's, what, 23? his generation is all about the fb/twitter/et al. i'd be pissed off too if people were calling out my desire, toughness, and courage.

As far as social media in general. A lot of guys do have people who run things for them...they say hey post this or that for me and they do...and you'd never know if it was the player or someone else. Sometimes they do say "this is so and so's 'team' posting" or whatever but still. And for the players who post things themselves...it only takes a matter of SECONDS to post something...and maybe read a few comments...so that 10-15 minutes they might spend on social media is not going to effect their play or whatever. I think its great of those who do things like this and want to be in touch with their fans. While yes being on social media opens you to get negative messages/comments/etc...people acting all tough because its the internet and they're going to tell this person or that person off...sometimes it can be ignored other times you need to call those people out and when they do its funny a lot of times because the people talking crap are idiots...and most cases after they're called out the players will just block them or whatever. Just because a player may post some trash talking or whatever comments back to someone thats nasty/etc to them on Twitter/FB/etc doesnt mean they're a bad person or cocky/ignorant...people have the right to defend themselves. What i HATE is when people make a big deal over what people post on social media...thats the problem.

Lets face it, we're dealing with athletes not Rhodes Scholars. The vast majority of them, if not for our value of their superior athletic ability, would be delivering our pizzas. The facts are that most of them are pretty dim bulbs. And spare me the exceptions like Steve Young et al. Those guys are the exceptions. Bottom line is that most of them should just stay away from instantaneous social media. Sooner or later their lack of smarts is going to embarrass them, or get them into trouble.

I agree 100% with ya Tomlin Era, after reading the game day thread last night after the loss I can only imagine what some of the guys on this board would have said had they been in Pouncey's shoes. And the whole Social Media is a "distraction" come on it isn't 1985 anymore. Social media is everywhere, I get tired of hearing that everything the athletes do that doesn't have to do with their sport is a distraction. These guys are normal people too, they have lives outside of their jobs.

I wish more coaches and teams took the Urban Meyer approach. He has banned twitter accounts for all OSU players. Not sure if he did that at Florida too, but I thought that was a classy act to avoid the inevitable.

You have to question if he is injury prone or his injuries were the results of him playing next to guys like Kemo, Legs, Essex... who cannot hold their ground. It seemed like the the injuries were results of linemen falling on the ankle.

Go get a high ankle sprain and then try to block a Pro Nose tackle and see how good you are at it, then get back to me. Feet and balance is a offensive line man's biggest assest, without these he is worthless. Get off Pouncey's case he is our best line man by a long shot and believe me a long shot.

You mean like how this thread got started Seriously though most of the time the negative outweighs the positive because the negative is the only thing that's ever newsworthy to the mass public. I honestly don't know why the players would wanna subject themselves to a bunch of idiots to begin with. There's probably 3 idiot fans for every good fan out there tweeting with players. Seems to me all the BS you'd have to put up with isn't even worth it. They'd be best to just leave it alone if for nothing else their own piece of mind.

He got hurt in the AFC championship half way through the game and only missed the Superbowl not exactly his fault, you don't want a guy that uses his legs for everything to bear more weight on his knee then blow it out.
